Hi,

My mate is the sales manager at my dealers.

I've had an order in for 1st March delivery of an SDV6 AB since June. I've also been nagging about 16.5MY.

So:-

1. My LDOC date was last Friday (11th Dec).
2. My build date(start) is 15th Jan - estimated completion is 19th Jan - due to be ready for despatch by 26th Jan.
3. Estimated delivery to dealer is 6th Feb. This will allow time for me to check the car (off the transporter) and then they can schedule it through workshops (for PDI and cleaning).
4. OTR 1st March.
5. No news on 16.5MY for RRS on the Dealer Portal - my "old" car is going in on the 29th Feb (before it needs tax & MOT to be road legal) - I've even offered to hold-off for a 16.5MY as I can use SWMBO's D4 or my Defender in the interim - still no news.

I hope this helps.

Do bare in mind that if any RRS 16.5 MY changes are made, it's probable that Feb build onwards will get them. That's what happened this year when they went from 15MY to 15.5MY (16 MY effective since Sept). Shame to get a Jan build 16MY for March delivery when if you'd waited a few days/weeks you could have had a 16.5 MY and still had a March delivery. My dealer told me that if your build date fell after a model yr spec change, any associated price increase would normally be absorbed by Land Rover. RRS 4.4AB 15.5MY Fuji/Ivory

Duvi, thanks for your response. Dealer is adamant there are no changes due. Can anyone else confirm this? Previous - 2008 RRS 2.7 HSE Black

16MY builds started on Jun 22nd. My dealer's take is that 16.5MY for D4 and Ewok have already been declared. If RRS 16.5MY was to start in Feb then it would have only have 4 months till the logical start of 17MY.

I've got to the point that whatever is available on the 1st March to my spec is what I'll pay for and drive home with a wide grin on my face!

My dealer told me 16.5MY builds expected from mid Feb, with a price increase to orders placed beyond that date.

They know what the price increase will be but had no idea what, if any, changes we will see. I'm personally hoping for an updated infotainment... but not holding my breath.

Been told there's a delay with all cars with stealth pack wheels due to factory not having stock. Anyone else facing this?

There was a 22" inch stealth wheel shortage last last summer, and LR anticipated the same was going to happen with 21" so order from Aug / Sept last year were quoting Feb / Mar delivery this year, I guess could be a further recurrence of the same.

I've not heard anything about a delay to my build date yet. That will come with the 21" stealth option. Build date mid March.

There's no shortage on the 21" alloys hence why you haven't been delayed.

Initially was quoted mid March build date which has now been put back to mid April. I can still cancel on this basis can't I?

That's only another 3 or 4 weeks - they only flipped to MY16.5 about 2/3 weeks ago, so waiting for MY17 will likely be at least September.

You don't think it's worth waiting for the new infotainment system and possible facelift? Previous - 2008 RRS 2.7 HSE Black

There is no certainty that there will be a facelift or incontrol touch pro on 17MY. (The spy shots of a possible new front end on the RRS could have been bits of the Discovery 5, which we know is coming this year.)

You could wait forever for the next best thing ... 17.5MY might have LED headlights.... 18MY might have a performance upgrade and laser guidance....18.5MY may have a masseuse and on board chef...

Alternatively, you could just enjoy a great car.

From my perspective, considering the 3/4 year cycle I change cars on, waiting much longer carries a risk of crossing over in to a new model. That's one of the reasons I'm coming out of Discovery - D5 isn't out yet and buying another D4 now is a big risk on depreciation IMHO.

The supposed 17MY refresh is probably the mid-life tweak. Meaning potentially 3/4 years to a new model?
