Movie Formatting 2012 Autobiography

Hi All,

After quite a few attempts to get my movies to play from a USB stick in the RRS I finally managed it and thought this may help others:

Firstly you need to format your USB drive correctly, as I was using a USB3 64gb stick when I tried to format the stick through windows it would only allow me to format in exFAT. This will not work in the RR, you need it in FAT32.

Therefore I suggest using MiniAidewww.miniaide.com it's free and very simple. Pop in your stick load up the program, find the stick and right click the select format partition. Select FAT32 and then click start, it should only take a few seconds.

So your stick is now formatted correctly we need to get some videos on there. I tried messing around with a number of tools but ended up giving in and paying about Ł13 and downloaded Divx Converter http://www.divx.com/en/software/converter/features. This made everything simple, just drop in the films you want to play in the RR, select home theatre and hit start.

Simply drop them onto the stick once complete and they will play first time.

Don't worry if you get a blue screen when you try and play a movie, leave it a few seconds and it will start playing. it takes a few second to load up when it starts.

Hope this helps someone!

OK, you have put your links to this more or less paid software that has excellent free replacements, OK. Now what RRS do you intend to play these movies in? Can your tips help in my 2006 Supercharged? Who is this tip for? Regards etc.,

Wow.......just trying to help didnt expect the hostility.

This worked in a RRS 2012 autobiography with dual front screen and rear entertainment system.

Yeah i agree there are free software solutions out there, the first of which is free to format the usb stick the second as i mentioned i tried other solutions but divx ended up being the simplest to get the movies in the right format after messing around with handbrake etc etc

I hope this makes things clearer for you.

Not hostile. I just can imagine the disappointment of a random web user, who will crawl over here lured by attractive keywords only to find a post that lacks basic information about the car and equipment this info applies to. Regards etc.,

Well I have the same age Autobiography and found this information informative. Thumbs Up
It also states in the title what it is regarding so I found it quite clear.
Sadly don’t have rear entertainment but good to know what will play and in what format.
As far as I know movies won’t play on a Pre Facelift OEM system. Lot of Landcruisers now sold
Audi TT 240 Sport now sold for.
RRS 2.7 HSE Now sold for.
RRS Autoibiography 2012
Defender 300tdi 90

There is a lot of information in the Users Hand Handbook about DivX and Formatting Memory Sticks etc. Pages 110-112 and 125. I'm sure this applies to Facelift Variants only though.

Cheers
