Decisions

Getting close to spec lock down for my car. Decision is:

HSE 3.0D Plus off/on road pack plus everything else I want or:

HSE Dynamic 3.0D plus the same options (not off/on road pack tho')

Option A works out slightly cheaper, but I wonder about the residuals?

What says the cognoscenti? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Buy the best you can afford . I would always buy the higher spec out of the ones you have looked at . Good luck .

Hi Wilf, if you go onto the Land Rover web site and build each one and look at the "freedom"finance options it will give you an idea of the residual values for each one Thumbs Up MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

I think that you will find that in the long term the HSE Dynamic will be worth more than the HSE with on/ offroad pack as these are options that not everyone will want and dealers will not give you an extra 1c for if you want to sell the car in 3-4 years time. It's a bit like loading your HSE with all the kit that makes it into an Autobiography spec 90% of the options will loose their value and you'll get nought for them whenit comes time to sell the car - it will only be an HSE with a heap of valueless optional extras. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

pretty much what I was thinking, tbh.

Problem is, nearly all of the options I want are still options on an ATB. Only the ICE upgrade is std on that.

@Rigsby - thanks, I'll try that MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I thought Dynamic gave you all of the off/on road pack bits anyway. Is this not true? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Yes, although I'm not sure if the HSE with on/offroad option gets the e-diff, the difference is that one is an HSE in the guides and the other is an HSE Dynamic.............. HSE is lower value whether or not it has the on/offroad pack and dealers will not value the HSE with the on/offroad pack any higher than a basic HSE unless it has the panoramic roof or some of the more desirable extras and the on/offroad pack is not a popular option, people prefer to have an HSE Dynamic rather than an HSE with on/offroad pack. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yes, but the OP said that Dynamic couldn't have on/off road pack. But as it doesn't need it then the OP's question is moot. If one can afford Dynamic with the same extras then it's obviously the way to go.

Having said that, as someone who believes you should buy the vehicle you want for the next 3-5 years, not what a future owner may or may not want, I say buy the vehicle that gives you what you want at the price you want. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The Dynamic doesn't need the on/off road pack because it comes as standard.

I checked out the depreciation figures in the LR finance calculator - basically the residual value percentage is the same what ever model you choose.

So - a no brainer - better to have the higher sum residual from the Dynamic as the options won't hold their value.

Thanks guys, I'll get my spec firmed up next week. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
