HELP!!! Engine station fault now a non runner

Help on sunday my 08 tdv8 went in to a limp mode and then died at a junction (where i was left for 5 hours don't use green flag!!).
The engine management light came on,when the car started it juddered and smoked from one side but died as soon as you tried to accelerate. The battery died which caused all sorts of electrical problems.
Today i received a call from my local RR garage saying without diagnostics or any sort of checks they thought it could be an engine failure which seems quite weird unless RR employ psychics in place of mechanics.
Im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what it may be.

Sorry no idea!! Just amused at the irony of you accusing the garage of being psychics because they have not checked the car and then you ask the forum who also have not seen the car. Rolling with laughter

No expert but inclined to agree with Camelrock sound's like a Turbo issue not uncommon on the TDV8.
