Towing

After a little help please. I had towing electrics fitted to my 55 plate sport last year and have just towed for the first time. I was using it to launch a boat which involved reversing the trailer into the Thames. When in reverse the long tone of the reversing sensors was permanently on- is this normal?

IIRC, that's what happens if they're not enabled in the CCF (but they'll work, unlike later vehicles). Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Who did you're towing electrics - dealer should of updated software Confused

If indi then only done half a job.

I fitted my own in past on FL's and just cancelled beeper on dash when reversing because I was too tight to get dealer to sort Embarassed

I only towed garden trailer with FL's so wasn't bothered about engine management update. For towing caravan I got it done properly Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I like them there a lot- quick, honest and good value. Only Time Ive thought they were pricey was for an alternator change, but other than that very impressed.

Just to close this off in fairness to Rovertune. I had plugged the electrics in the wrong way round, and as well as the reversing sensors not deactivating the indicators were flashing on the trailer opposite to the car and the trailer signal didn't illuminate on the dash. Lesson learned, as normal, completely my fault and Rivertune had installed my electrics correctly!
