What do you mean? If I want to keep my warranty, I shouldn't chiptune the car, or I don't have to worry? (English is not my native language, so please bear with me).

I know I can't expect to accelerate faster, and save on fuel economy. But, when driven normally, without pushing the envelope, is the fuel economy better or worse with the Turbochip? Also, did you ever get the 0-60 any faster? Finally, should I wait for a few thousand KMs, or do it from the beginnning (if I choose to chiptune)?

KB Yippee - I finally ordered my:

Range Rover Sport 3.6 TdV8 HSE (2009), with everything ticked on the accessories list:)

Killer,

The 'danger' with any type of chip, remap, plug-in box is that if the dealer discovers it then your warranty will be in the 'bin' unless you've got bags of money and are prepared to fight LR for any claim they reject as a result of the modification!

In effect nobody declares that they have 'chipped' a car for fear and of losing the warranty. Even if a dealer has done it for you thye will not have declared it to LR....so dont be deceived....if anything goes 'wrong' then the dealer will 'walk away' and state that it was you the customer who demanded the upgrade and 'nothing to do with me mate'....or words to that effect!!!!

If you are prepared to lie to your dealer and/or LR then have your car upgraded..... but if not...leave well alone otherwise your car without warranty will be worth zilch!!!!

OK, I understand that.

I also see on the internet that there are a lot of offerings which are basically small boxes added in the engine. They can easily be removed, and supposedly they leave no trace whatsoever:

http://www.dieseltuning.co.uk/landrover-diesel-tuning.html

Are these what they say, i.e. do they really give the added performance, as well as leave no trace?

Killer Bob.

Car is great and has been back to dealership (early days) three times and they never spotted the upgrade.

0-60 is no quicker but from 50 through any 20 increment is significantly faster.

Just love the car.

Just passed 18k miles now and had to fit new rubber Big Cry Went for the P zero's this time and I really like them. Seems like have done £14 pounds a week in tyre wear Shocked

Dont expext to get more MPG you will be fooling yourself Laughing But the grunt is worth it. My average over 15k is 25.6 mpg Cool for a big car.

Cheers and enjoy your TDV8 Thumbs Up  TDV8 HSE.

ECU Mapping and Insurance

Hi Guys, One of the first questions Land Rover insurance asks is "has your car been modified to increase its performance" has anyone been through the change while a policy holder, and what impact did it have on your premium, assuming they still agreed to insure the vehicle ?

On my previous TDV6 I chipped it and told the Insurance company. The increase in premium was about £50 for the year....they didn't appear too bothered about it and said it was a fairly common modification.
So given that was the cost it really is not worth hood winking the insurance by not telling them as it could bite you big time if you have an accident and they discover it.

I haven't bothered on the TDV8 as I don't think it needs it Thumbs Up MY08 RRS TDV8 HSE, Stornoway Grey, Ebony and Zabrano, sunroof, hybrid tv, premium ICE, rear E diff, privacy glass, side steps, mud flaps, S/Grey mirror covers, Venture shield, tasmods, smoked indicators, Larini sports exhaust, etc, etc.

Josh I agree with you, TDv8 is very good without any mods, however there are some there for whom the standard performance is never enough, regardless of what the car is. It's like adding bodykits etc it's a personal thing - maybe it goes back to when man used to mark his territory! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tata TDv8 HSE - Stornoway/ebony and straight grain walnut with towpack, Tasmods and an HST grille. Coming soon LEDs in the headlights
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road

Tim you maybe right Rolling Eyes

I would never fit a body kit to a RRS. Far to good looking for after market bits. But the lure of a little more power and the sheer mention of an increase in fuel economy just can't be ignored Laughing
