Squeaky Brakes - But then got carried away!

Hello, not posted for a while so I thought I'd share last weeks efforts - So having not ever touched the brakes they started squeezing a few weeks ago. Whipped the fronts off to find the pads well worn ;-

Also I had an advisory from the MOT of cross axle rear brake pipe! Plus I had a desire to paint the callipers so I thought I'd best do the lot. Front and Rear, also when front wheels removed I needed two tyres aswell!

Removed Calipers

And checked disc thickness

Removed caliber bracket and pad guides

Pushed pistons out with airline, but only steady, had a block of wood in there for a start to stop them flying out

Dust seal and main seal then removed

Then made a scraper up to run round where the seals are sat to remove any crud/build up.

Dumped the lot into shot blaster and bl;asked for a night!

Hung blasted parts up

And Powder Coat sprayed on

160 Degrees C for 10 minutes and jobs a peach!

Let them cool then to rebuild

Seals back in

Even did the rear ones too for good measure

Then tried to replace the cross axle brake pipe but didn't find one! Just two from to rears! So replaced the rear section to under the passenger seat and joined them there. Bled up with assistance from my son and jobs a good one!

Also gave the discs centres a coat of silver (paint), then had a day to wait for tyres - The most expensive bit!

Overall well pleased with the result.

Great job, especially loved the home made crud removal tool and powder coating oven. Personally I would have used my wifes tweezers and her oven......

Did it stop the squealing brakes? I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.
