United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue
How much is it worth?

Thinking of selling my RRS SDV6 HSE, can people tell me how much they think it is worth? Trade values seem to be all over the place.

Its a 2011 (61 plate) SDV6 HSE - Buckingham Blue Ivory leather, privacy and side steps. 43500 miles with a Full LR service history - serviced three times by Stratstone Solihull which is where I bought it. I am 2nd owner. It has LR full extended warranty until Oct 16 - transferrable, and the next two LR services paid for - next service in October 2015 - pretty sure this is transferrable to the new owner but need to check). Goodyear Excellence tyres all round, rear new 4000 miles ago and front at about 3-4mm. It has just had four wheel tracking at a LR dealer and some suspension issues sorted. All factory recalls up to date.

My wife wants a new XC90 Smile (I nearly went for a new FFRR but backed out!) so that's why its probably going. So, what is it worth? Range Rover - 4.4SDV8 Autobiography - Corris and Black

Thanks. Trade in values i have been getting have ranged from £25-£27K. If i sold back to LR it seems such a waste to trade it in with 15 months warranty and two services paid for.

I am also not sure if they are differentiating between TDV6 and SDV6 as 2011 was the change over year. Range Rover - 4.4SDV8 Autobiography - Corris and Black

Once you've seen it being winched on to a recovery truck a few times the superiority complex will soon go!

Really?

You only get a Range Rover if you buy a Range Rover. I'm new to Range Rover, but I love feeling superior to every other 4X4 driver this is not driving a Range Rover/Land Rover. I always think "you're only driving that because you can't afford a RR/LR" I may be wrong.

Are you for real?

Cheers

I realise everyone is different and its horses for course. I am a huge fan of the L405 Range Rover and have started to look again. However, the XC90 is an awesome SUV, i don't think anyone should really comment until they have sat in one and driven one. The technology alone is light years ahead of Land Rover/Range Rover. I also don't believe they will lose value as quick as has been stated. Perhaps a look at L405 values, and the older RRS, will tell you that the Land Rover brand is not that good at holding its value. I am looking at 2 year old L405 VSEs, the dealer may be asking £61-£64K but a quick look at the WBAC and CAP values put them in the high £40Ks s a trade in. That is a £40K loss in 2 years!

Anyway, Jon asked for some pictures of my RRS so, here they are…

where does Volvos off road pedigree originate?

How often does your RRS go off road and make use of its pedigree? The reality is that most LR owners will make exactly the same calls on the vehicle's ability away from tarmac as the driver of the Volvo will.

I like what Volvo are doing - they have decided to stop following the Germans and start to go back to what they do well. From what I've read, the XC90 is a bloody good vehicle; sure, it's not going to set your pants alight but then it's not trying to. It's trying to be a big, safe, comfortable, capable family 4x4 estate. And it does it very well. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I might get one. But I'm waiting to see what the new Skoda SUV is like before deciding what to do next. My plan is to keep the RRS for towing the horse trailer, shooting and a bit of playing off road. I'll get something else for the commute. Putting 2.5k / month on the RRS at the moment and I fear how long it will last at that rate... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Stop being a troll. RR and RRS of some description can be had for any money between banger money and 100k quid in UK. You don't have to be rich to own one. I am glad it makes you feel superior (the British Class system is alive and well it seems). BMW never designed the X5 to be a 4x4 like an RR, it was designed as an on road SUV, much like the XC, and even the new RRS to some extent. If I see you in traffic, I will be sure to stand to attention and salute you for driving an RRS.
