Hi Guys,


Hope you can help me with this one!

As some of you are aware I had my rear tyre changed yesterday, driving into work this morning I noticed a strange noise coming from that general area.

Each time I corner (no matter which direction) I was initially hearing a squeeling noise, like a slipping fan belt, this has now changed to a noise like the brakes being applied or the pad rubbing on the disc maybe, its just this one area and as I said it occurs no matter which direction I turn the car, its only audible at about 15mph or above and the corner has to be relatively sharp.

Now, I'm aware that the torque vectoring applies the brakes when cornering, however I would expect this to be coming from both sides if this were causing the noise.

Could the tyre fitting company have damaged something?

Any ideas on diagnosis?

I have a call out to the dealer to try and get it booked in, however I am using the car to transport groomsman for a wedding tomorrow so can't really be without it.

Has anyone else had/heard of a similar issue?

Check your wheel nuts . Not sure how tight they should be , maybe someone can give us the torque settings .

I've checked them as much as I can (they are more than finger tight lol).

It could be the metal shield that is behind the disc. It may be touching the disc and making the noise.

So...the local dealers to me do not have a slot with a loan car until the 20th of JULY!! which is ridiculous!

They've suggested that I call Land Rover assist as they'll provide a loan car if the car is unsafe to drive, however I don't think its un-safe, I think that its wearing the pads/discs prematurely (assuming that its the caliper sticking).

LR Assist will arrange for it to be fixed by the dealer and arrange a car for you, and in my expereince within a couple of hours.

Land Rover Assist came out and as you have mentioned have booked the car into the dleaership with a loan car for me, they were going to try and get this done this evening.

He also checked the obvious things (Wheel nut torque, disc guards, tyres etc) and said he can't tell what it is.

Whilst its in, they are also going to replace the door seal so my wife doesn't get wet whilst it rains any more

The cars I have had are through Enterprise and they aim for a JLR product - Evoque and Disco in the past for me. 

Headed to enterprise shortly.

They called me last night to say "it's just something to get you mobile, we'll try and give you something large if we can, it'll certainly be bigger than an Aygo. Please don't expect anything with a prestige badge like a jaguar or Land Rover...."

Its a Toyota Auris......they are trying to source something larger.

Apparently JLR have (as of tonight) ended their contract with Enterprise so they no longer carry any JLR products.

I am hoping they call me later today as its just too small.

Having said that, its a hoot to drive and has only done 10 miles.

Suffice to say, its going to be "run in" really carefully


*Edit** Called LR Assist to see if they can help get me something larger, said that Enterprise should have at the very least provided a like for like in size, and they "should" have offered JLR product, we'll see

LR Assist is provided by the AA - which is probably why you don't get the "service" you're used to from LR...  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I might be taking it all back....

Things don't seem quite as they were described earlier, on hold now awaiting an update.

Raj from Land Rover assist is being amazing.

Enterprise have said they have no record of the call I received from them earlier

So he was due to finish at 5pm but he was still there and is calling them now...!!

**Edit** Raj just called me back and advised that they are "messing around". Said that senior management have advised them to deliver the car tonight, no matter what the time.
