Well done landrover

I had a day out shooting today and had a rather spirited drive home , approximately 1 hour of country A roads at quite some speed , the dynamic mode is incredible. Driving too fast into a few corners and trying to drive through them rather than standing on the breaks the car just digs in and throws you out the other side. Anyone asking in the future if it's any good, worth the extra . Send them my way with a pair of spare pants.
Well done landrover, we are quick enough to moan about the dealers and the odd faults/ characteristics of the cars but praise where it's due . I've fallen in love with it again.

I actually found dynamic in the SDV8 to be less fun than the SDV6. There was a lot more weight over the nose and I could feel it.

I agree with you on this one AB,,i tried the V8 & that's one of the reasons I went for the V6,,throwing it into corners wasn't the same, just too heavy on the front. Also the 0-60 is only about 0.3 sec difference.

News to me.

Yes, there have been a few (very few) reported, but not enough to classify this as a "characteristic" of this engine.

I have had three of them, two in Jags and this one, and have done over 200,000 miles with them. Never a problem.

And the Jag forums don't report such issues in significant numbers, either.

What makes you think it is such a big problem? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

a fairly significant number of terminal failures in ZA, from online surveys, the figures stands at a conservative 13%-16%.

Also a lot of reports on Disco3/4 forums --

yes, it's a current issue.

just recently, one on a 2014 D4 on 35k last serviced 29k in Jan 16.

Not sure if Disco_Mikey is also active here? He's an indie who can shed more light on this --

There will always be random engine failures. Anything mechanical can and will break.

What I wanted to uncover is if the assertion that bearing shells were spinning in a specific batch of engines due to a lack of locating tags was right, and had that specific issue ended?

Because - as I said, this issue is simply not cropping up in Jag forums where the exact same engine is also used. At all.

Except where it relates to a lubricating oil contamination with fuel due to DPF failed regens. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

in the case of ZA vehicles, we can rule out the oil contamination factor, since none of the ZA-spec TDV6/SDV6 are equipped with a DPF.

there is a hypothesis that harmonic imbalances are playing a role, but hard to tell since LR are keeping this under wraps and not willing to help identify the root cause. --
