Discovery Sport Dilemma

So after trip to stealer yesterday came away with offer of cancelled order slot for 4/9 - this would put me in a DS before most people have even seen a demonstrator and I thought it's xmas Twisted Evil

http://rules.config.landrover.com/jdxl/en_...ayoff.html

Managed to get mud flaps and rubber mats included but told no discounts available with normal delivery Oct/Nov Confused

So today I stumble across 2 discount deals on net - Broadspeed offering £1119 discount (£1147 after extras added) and UKcarbroker offering £1568 discount Shocked

Nearly paid deposit but not sure if I wait and get discount or take the early delivery and pay the full price Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Atacama Sand

I wasn't impressed with the one I had as a courtesy car, albeit it was the SE manual version. No doubt the higher spec ones with the new engine will be better.

Have owned 9 JLR vehicles since 2000 (though admittedly the X-type didn't do it for me) and the Disco Sport still wears a green oval badge on the front last time I looked so that'll do nicely thank you Bow down

I'm quite sure that when I receive my free half day off road voucher and take the opportunity to test a DS at a LRE centre I will be just as impressed as I was with all the previous LR vehicles I've tried. Difference is I no longer need to pull a twin axle or carry 3 kids and a Lab with buggies, etc but come winter I will be happily taking the snow and ice in my stride in rural Yorkshire. Do I need a low ratio box for that? Do I need a V6 to go 0-60 in 8.4 seconds when a 2.0 Td4 will do the same Confused

Hats off to LR for the progress they've made over recent years in turning pretty basic agricultural vehicles into luxurious but still capable vehicles that are viewed with envy by most people but knocked by a minority still stuck in the past who remember BL or MG/Rover products Rolling Eyes

I will leave the willy waving contest now gentleman Whistle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Nice looking car, thought about one myself but after owning the launch model of the FL2 I didn't fancy been another LR Test Mule, I would wait for the newer engine and for it to be tested fully before committing, but then the SD4 seems to be rocksolid and tried and tested

Though after a trip back today on the A1 and the Bronze car next to me not been different enough to attract my attention i was surprised to find it was a DS when it pulled ahead enough to pull out myself, were as the shape of the FL2 has more presence on the road, is the DS too watered down and made to match the competition?

Yes Nick have to admit worried about being test mule too Sad

Although doing the Gaydon design tour last October and seeing the amount of money and resources being put into testing now by LR I feel a bit more confident Bow down

One parting shot for the sniggering members - winter 2010 my £50k+ MY10 RRS factory supplied with summer tyres had to remain parked in my garage following a near disaster on snow -- spent most of that winter driving swmbo £10k 07 FL1 without a single drama on the factory supplied m+s tyres. So if you want to start talking about what's a real LR or an estate.........
