Servicing air compressor

Hi guys
Going to service the air compressor on 55 plate rrs with new seals and the pellets that go inside and also replace
The lid for a steel one has the plastic one has issues with a split between the pipe inlets
I'm reading that need to disconnect the battery before removing compressor.
Is this really needed? Is it going to cause any problems with anything if i don't?
Cheers guys Smile

Hi Morgi, removed and replaced my compressor with a new one this week did not disconnect the battery and no probs at all, but would suggest you let the car go to sleep first. I think people are saying disconnect battery to clear faults? dont know if this works as i used IID to clear all faults.

Cheers guys has I say the compressor is fine and no warnings Etc, just I want to replace the lid from the plastic one to the metal one so I don't get that split inbetween the pipe outlets

Got the kit Come today from ebay was £55 I think seems very good new steel lid
The moisture absorbing beads and the fabric filters to keep beads in place and tools for fixing piston in place to remove also contains seals an new piston seals
Will let you know how it goes once I get time to replace it all, there's also a video on youtube showing how to replace the various parts etc
Cheers
