Difference Between 2014 & 2015/2015.5 SDV6?

Hello All

Apologies but I couldn't find the answer to this.

Where an SDV6 L494 is concerned, whTs the difference between the 2014 and 2015/2015.5?

I've spent a good few hours lookig through threads and my questions are:-

- am I correct in saying the only difference would be that
From all MY2015 cars on Id get the better 306 Horsepower engine and that's it? (292 vs 306)

- is the "new" SDV6 worth the premium over the 2014 one?

I am potentially looking for a used well Specced HSE or AB, but will be SDV6.
If the only difference is the better engine it will help somewhat with my decision (after a test drive to see if the new engine is worth the premium)

Thanks in advance

The older engine (pre 2015) was a twin turbo 3.0 Litre engine with 292bhp/442lb ft where as the new one is a Twin turbo engine with 306 BHP and 700lb ft Torques!

It's a different ball game all together when you think about Torque figures. 700 is hell of a lot - to put it in to perspective a Ferrari 458 which does 0-60 in 3.4 sec has 398lb ft Torque!!

The newer engine is also much more efficient and no matter how hard I drive it I can't get it to less than 32mpg which is insane for a car like this! Last night I drove 28 miles through some traffic and A roads - it returned 43mpg! Not sure how this compares to the older engine but it seems very good for this one!

To put that in to context my 2012 BMW X5 40d M Sport had an average of 24mpg overall.

If you can get the newer engine then I would do so - really depends on your budget.

Good luck Smile

Whereas a Volvo truck has several thousand Nm torque and can struggle to get to 60 mph. Very Happy

Absolutely...but that's a proper truck Wink

Torques v BHP have been an arguing point on many motoring forums throughout the years so let's not start that one here Smile

All I know is that the newer engine pulls much quicker than the older one - if you don't believe me try one after the other Thumbs Up

Thanks for that.

RRSman when you put it that way I think it's a no brainer then to get the "new" SDV6

So as long as I get a 2015 or 2015.5 I should be good.

I'm going through the usual dilemmas of "well
Specced HSE or AB with the options I want. Gotta get a dealer to price them
Up coz I can't do so on the website

New SDV6 is the same engine, just tweaked for a bit more power and a bit more fuel economy. It still has twin turbos, only the TDV6 has one turbo. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

No problem at all.....you can spec them up with full prices on the Configurator?

If you are looking to spec big I would go for an AB rather than an HSE - the AB will always hold it's value and be more desirable than a HSE with a big spec - anything you spend on options on the HSE will not be accounted for at resale time and many items you may want to spec maybe standard on the AB anyway.

Enjoy the journey to delivery day - it's awesome Thumbs Up

Chris you are absolutely correct - sorry for the wrong info - yes the SDv6 retains twin turbos but gets much more Torque and 13 BHP extra Smile Edited my original post

According to Autoexpress the updated SDV6 is still twin turbo, gained an extra 13bhp and 100nm of torque. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

For some reason when I spec it up on the Land Rover Australia Website it doesn't give me any prices. Just the option to talk to a dealer at the end about the car I've just Specced up (unless I'm doing something wrong?)

I've been toying with the idea of an RRS for years. First started looking and got an M3 instead, then an X6 35D. I think it's about time for a 2015 SDV6 Smile
