I've had 45's on mine for about 3 months now, much nicer to drive better ride and more stable, I had Cooper (Avon) tyres fitted, they seem to be the business, quiet and wearing well so far.📛👍

Hi, what are they like in terms of rim protection/sidewall 'bulge' compared to previous to save the alloys from the kerbs?

I just ordered 4 of the 275/45/20 Hankook based upon the positive comments here around them, once they arrive and are on I'll put some feedback up. Thanks everyone

Hi all,
After reading your experiences, I too am willing to fit the 275/45/20 tyres.
Having looked at MyTyres for the reviews and efficiencies, I am tempted by the Dunlop SP QuattroMaxx
C=fuel, B=wet grip, 69db noise
£211.50 each

Thoughts or experiences with this tyre welcome?

EDIT:
Just called my local tyre fitter, and he is dead against the larger 45 profile. Said that its 10cm extra diameter on the tyre overall, which is enough to throw the speedo out, and could cause problems with the diff. Suggests a call to RR rather than taking views on an online forum.... hmmm...

I also called RoverTune, they also said not to do it. Will cause issues with the suspension over time.

I've just gone with the Dunlop SP QuattroMaxx 275/40/20
C=Fuel, A=Grip, 68db=noise
£185 fitted each

Hi Xstyle,

You have been told a load of Old Crap, I have been using that size tyre on my Sports for around the the last 5 years, from a personal point of view found it the better size with the higher sidewall giving slightly more protection to the Rim plus a bit Smoother Ride. Never had any issues with Speedo being out of Calibration probably varies by about 1mph or L/R Warranty not being a approved size. Even ran that size Tyre on Sport Rims on my old P38 and that's a while ago.

I have never run a Diff Out, and as yet have not had to change any Suspension Bushes. I'm currently running 275/45 x 21" Wheels and have had no issues with those either.

Incidentally the Difference in Diameter is 2.8cm not 10cm

Cheers
Col

Hi Col,
Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah I guess it makes sense, as people always upgrade to larger alloys, so what difference is 5mm profile on a tyre actually going to make!?

The car with a previous owner ran 22" rims which I need to sell...

Hi all,

I'm buying into the idea of fitting 45's but what do you think of fitting two of these to the rear and leaving the 40's on the front (they're nearly new). Obviously would go 45's all round when fronts are worn. Sounds crazy but plenty of cars have different sizes front vs rear. Also saves a few bucks in the meantime.

Thx in advance
