Trouble electing first gear

Had trouble today selecting first gear and fault code came up
P0826-62 (6Cool Up and down switch input circuit - Algorithm based failure - signal compare failure
Am I right in assuming that it's the gear selector pivot pin seizing up
Eventually got going but now and again when I come to a stop and move off it won't have it straight away Big Cry
