PDC - Beeping Stays on too long

Hi Folks
I'm a new RRS owner and new to the forum and was wondering if you might be able to offer a bit of guidance on an issues having with the PDC system.
All of the posts I've been able to find on the forum relate to the early models and the technical bulletin relating to replacing the ECU when customers complain about unsatisfactory operation. My VIN falls outside of the range specified, it's a build date July 2006.
The problem is, say you reverse up to a wall and it works fine, beeping until you're close then continuous beep. Stop, then put into drive and pull away from the wall - it continues to beep for some seconds after. Pushing the button on centre console stops it as well. In all other respects, the system seems to be happy enough but all of the reversing sensors I've had before will stop beeping when you select park or drive.
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
Regards
Barry

Even though you are driving forwards, away from the obstacle, it will still beep until the wall is out of range.
