Range rover sport went dead 07 Hse TDIV6

hello i am new to this forum and its like my 07 RR Sport is all on-top of me My 07 range rover sport Hse TDIv6 just stopped on the way while driving then some messages started popping up on the instrument cluster that is, transmission fault limited gears available, Engine system fault, HDC fault system unavailable and system fault special program unavailable, key security light flashes, hazard light flashes, temp gauge moves to the top immediately when the ignition is switched On. we finally towed the car to a local garage and they discovered the a dumped alternator but after replacing the alternator, the car could not still start with the hazard light keep flashing, temp gauge moves to the top, key security light flashes check engine warning light just disappeared from the instrument cluster and we hv E on the gear position on the board etc. i have also replaced the battery with a brand new of same capacity, fitted a brand new engine ECU but no luck the car was sent to a more better equipped LR dealer as said so i am waiting for their feed back

Good luck with that. I have know idear what's up with your car. Maybe something needs resetting!
I had an alternator belt and pulley fitted today and the guy did run a full diagnostics check and clear all faults before he started it up. Maybe that's all yours needs!!

Mines done exactly the same on Saturday with the same faults showing as yours, mines going into falcon performance on Wednesday for new alternator and battery, I think you need to get all the codes cleared aswell, mines getting collected by recovery truck.

I see on your post you said you got it towed, I don't think you can tow them.

Good luck hope it gets sorted Thumbs Up

Rac checked alternator, only giving 12.5 volts, the battery was goosed and smell of eggs in the car indicated the alternator was cooking the battery and it had a small leak of acid, fingers crossed this will sort it.

The gearbox indicator was a F and only had what I believe was 2nd and 3rd, when I got it home and tried to restart it the gearbox indicator had changed to a E, I can't find any info on what these mean.

I'm having serious thoughts now of going back to BMW , I have friends who have x5s with very little issues compared to landrovers (AKA this Censored a money pit), very frustrating to say the least

I've removed the battery shortly after getting home so I don't know, it was on for the 30 mile drive home, I'll fit the new one tomorrow and report back with any faults etc

New battery fitted and all faults have cleared, I've done a HLDF test and I'm getting 13.5 volts when the engine is running and 12.5 when its off, I'll need to get a alternator check done now as I'm thinking it was only the battery that was at fault.

13.5V is a bit low really. You should see over 14V. Mine runs at 14.5V when idling with the engine warm and that's with a known good, well charged, battery and an alternator that's 3 years old.

See my thread from when my alternator died:
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic25224.html 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Just had the alternator tested at the local garage and they have said its charging ok,

I got the battery from halfords , its a yuasa hsb019 12v 100ah 900a comes with a five year guarantee . £120 with a free tyre pressure pumpy up thing

So it would seem the RAC contractor got the diagnosis wrong

13.5V suggests otherwise... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
