Polishing Piano Black trim.

Hi all,

Scratches in the piano black trim are really frustrating me and I wondered what could be done to reduce them. Would something like Poorboys black hole work and be ok to use? Or are there other products which might fill in some of the imperfections.

Any advice would be appreciated. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

I would definitely use a good but gentle polish but T cut is too abrasive in my opinion

I would go with something like this Menzerma fine

Any good car polish will remove surface blemishes and fine scratches as its only the top coat (lacquer) which is scratched. As said above good elbow rub and you'll be fine. Thumbs Up

The more abrasive the polish the more lacquer it removes… depends on the severity of the swirls …

always start with a gentle polish , you can always ramp up the strength..

You will always find the finer polishes will restore more of a perfect gloss and finish..

It's their purpose and exactly what they are deigned to do... 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

I would consider putting a glaze and coat of wax on first in case you could get away with that, as glaze has no cutting ability be safer on the panel.

I would have thought most polishes would make it worse as they would introduce more fine scratches and you can't break the polish down sufficiently by hand to get a decent finish. I'd try and glaze or sealant first too. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

I tend to remove the piano blacks from the interior and correct them on the mini bigfoot. But black hole glaze will silicone filler the defects to a certain degree. Thus giving the appearance of a better surface finish.

Having XPEL self healing ppf laser cut to fit the trim works really well as this means you just need heat to remove defects in the future.

Cheers

Do not put T-cut any where near them Shocked

As superclean says, unless you can machine polish, something like Black Hole, or Autoglym SRP should mask most of the fine scrathes.

Liking the idea of the self healing film too Cool Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
