transfer case ecu water corroded the connections

Hi Everybody

I have a transfer ecu which has brought up a lot of faults, traced it back to the transfer ecu which has water damage.

I can pick up a new one but it will need programming, does anyone know who can do this for me ?

Incidentally - can you describe the faults you are experiencing that have been traced back to the transfer box box control module? I'm interested - as have a possible similar issue. As the module costs £179 - don't want to go down the replacement route unless can be reasonably sure it is faulty Confused 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Hi Paddi

I'm getting the following faults

Transmission fault.
HDC fault
Park brake fault
Suspension fault

It's also changing gear at a higher rpm.
R H auto's did all the hard work and tracked it back to slight water damage on the ecu.

All the faults happened at the same time. Usual cause is the brake light switch under the steering wheel £8 cost
Or faulty brake light fitted. Both of which i ruled out early on.

another possible cause is faulty alternator but checked that too and its coming back fine.

Thanks Alex,

I hope the new module fixes your issues. Will be interested to hear if it does.

The symptoms I have are an occasional hard shift (sometimes at 70 mph or more on a steady throttle when it should just be staying in 6th) sometimes but not always accompanied by the 'HDC fault system not available'). There is fault code stored U0101 87 that implies a communication problem involving the transfer box control module and TCM.

The transfer case control module lives in the e-box that houses the engine ECU. It's behind the battery box. If the transfer case module is showing signs of water ingress then make sure that the engine ECU isn't also getting wet. Trace where the water is coming from and how it's getting in to the e-box. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
