Burning Tar smell !!

Hi to all, I have recently noticed that when I've done a few miles to town or wherever the rrs realy smells of burning tar. I have no oil leaks or fluid leaks but cannot find the answer, the brakes and hand brake do not bind either. Any ideas on this one please Thumbs Up 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

Possibly the FBH (Fuel Burning Heater) which kicks in to heat the engine if its below circa 3 degrees. You will see smoke from the front near side where there is a small tube & sometimes get a smell in the car itself. All normal. Do a bit of reading up on the FBH to learn more
Thumbs Up

I bought my car in April this year and about a week ago, when we first got the colder weather I had this smell for the first time. I was close to panicking at first and thought my car was on fire but the smell subsided after 15 minutes or so and I guessed it was burning off some deposits after not having been used for a long time.

Amen to that.
Here in Ayrshire smooth road surfaces are a thing of the past.
I'm frequently on gravel 'roads' that are better than the so-called highway.

Thanks for the reply folks, the FBH has been working fine during the cold spell but I suppose it could still be the culprit. Don't think it was tarmacking taking place as it was midnight when I smelt it in our carport....... Whistle Oh and we live next to the woods..
