Probably a stupid suggestion but I presume you're stationary when you try it? Otherwise it won't work

Yes I am stationary and in park, the previous destinations work if selected and will calculate the route if selected, just cant get to the postcode or address screens, when I press these buttons the green square around the button highlights and the dvd runs up but nothing happens ?

Easy peasy. Unlock car and remove key, open bonnet and leave for at least 5 mins until everything powers down (car goes to sleep). Disconnect both positive and negative battery leads from the battery posts. Take a single jump lead and connect the positive battery lead to the negative battery lead for a few minutes. TAKE GREAT CARE NOT TO LET ANY PART OF THE JUMP LEAD OR THE BATTERY LEADS TOUCH THE BATTERY TERMINALS.

Disconnect the jump lead and reconnect the battery as normal. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
