Laughing Laughing Thumbs Up

I wonder if Victoria Beckham was offered the large some of 50p to help design it Question

You've got to admit, it looks pretty good..... It will probably fall apart as soon as you drive it out of the showroom though. Embarassed

It isnt the first time, and wont be the last. They wont win in court in China.

I wouldn't mind having a closer look at one at the money. I wonder if they have a UK importer.........

It's only worth doing because the "real thing" is so expensive in the first place.

They might have a chance of winning their case in China because they're already investing heavily with another local company. There is some vested interest in the Chinese authorities being seen to help them. At least until they've got all of the technology secrets from JLR - then they'll slam the door in their faces.

The Chinese don't give a stuff about international rules about IP etc. They're too big to be pushed around and they already make much of the West's goods. Oh, and they own most of the US debt too.

The future is Chinese, get used to it people.

At least I could accept the Land Wind being poorly built and unreliable at £14k. What excuse do JLR have at 3 times that price? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I was just doing some reading on it:

Quote:

LandWind is a standalone Chinese car maker created as a joint venture between respected Chinese car makers Changan Auto and Jiangling Motors Corporation.

Changan Auto is regarded as one of the top four Chinese car makers, producing two million cars a year and working in other joint ventures with the likes of Ford, PSA Peugeot Citroen and Suzuki.

The firm previously made headlines for selling the LandWind CV9, a car that took clear design inspiration from the Vauxhall Frontera and was briefly sold in Europe, until poor Euro NCAP crash tests forced its withdrawal from sale.

I am curious to know if they meet European standards. I do some business in Guangzhou and have previous experience importing cars. Mr. Green

362, LR (TATA) produces their "real" Evoque for under 14k as well!
The rest is profit. Cool SW

Sometimes it is not enough to do our best;
sometimes we must do what is required.

just for fun

Say the Evoque's retail is £35k
Take of 20% Vat that's £29.2k wholesale.
Less 15% dealer markup, brings it back to about £25k
If JLR are taking a gross 20% that knocks it back to about £21k.

If they charge a 12.5% recovery charge for R&D the 'off-the-line' cost could be about £18,750.

Forgetting any fiddles by cross charges from TATA etc for management, investments and tax-planning !!
