Haven't had that much time to play with it yet - the minor inconvenience of work getting in the way, but I did manage to get out in it last night for an hour or so. Overall, seems great and confirmed all I liked about it during my test drive.

Took me a while to get a good seating position sorted out, but the joy of electrics is that you've got very granular control over it and I did get it licked. I need to read up on seat memory before the wife gets in and ruins it all - I'm a whole foot taller than her so settings are v different. Rolling Eyes

What are the preferred ride-height settings for your average pootle around town? If you set it to access mode when stationary, does it then lift itself once a particular speed has been reached a la Cayenne?

Haven't gone anywhere near the Satnav yet or any of the toys really. One minor gripe I do have is the location of the window switches. Does anyone else think they are too far forward on the window ledge? I'd much prefer them to be either on the centre console or further down the inside of the door like they are in the Freelander. That said, it's something I will obviously get used to... just think the interface design folks didn't quite get it right there imho.

I'll be able to play much more with it over the weekend. I'll post any comments I have up for discussion!

I have excessively long arms like Mr Tickle so I doubt the window switches will bother me! Very Happy

Fitting the side vents....

OK, so at long last after several calls to my dealer, the replacement SC grilles and vents arrive yesterday so I thought I'd go out and fit them this morning. The front grille went on like a breeze - in fact, I don't know if they've changed the design of the grille fitments but there were no screws with this (as someone alluded to on here a while back) - just simple plastic retainers.

The head-scratching started with the side vents - how do you actually get them out? Looking at the fitments on the SC vents it looks like you'd need to release a couple of retainers to free it, but I've tried every which way and no joy. I don't want to try TOO hard for fear of damaging the surrounding bodywork of course. Maybe it's a case of brute force and ignorance Wink

Given a lot of you have swapped these, what's the secret?

Cheers
Steve

The vents are held in by retaining clips at the bottom, similar to the grille centre one. Tte top is held by a clip or formed piece of plastic so, it is pull at the bottom and soon as you feel it start to move pull down towards the floor to allow the top clips to come out. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

I bought the SC grill and side vents from a guy off ebay, can send anyone the email address when im back in the office if anyone needs it? he charged me: £220 for the front grill, side vents, rear badge (black and silver) and 4 black and silver wheel hubs. Inclusive delivery. Could not be bothered to actually win an auction so just approached him direct for the price, i notice Shmoogle your car is like mine in Java Black and the grill makes a huge difference, also, when passing another TD RRS owner, they look at you and turn green as they 'think' you have an SC purely cuz urs looks better.. hehe.. best £200 i could spend on the RRS i think.. just need some 20" SC wheels now to complete the look.
Check out my gallery have some pics of the car standard before delivery and then with the grill ive got parked on my driveway.. my buying experience was great and they are easy (almost too easy) to fit!! and im no DIY expert, hardly even a novice!

Fornt grill was screw less, simple clip off and on, the side vents were a little more tricks and its a case of brut force really, i couldn't bring myself to do it for fear of damage, so my mates did it, just pulled up released the two holding clips on the bottom then pulled down and pop they were out, must stress be careful not to apply too much force and risk breaking the clips or bending the wing, but they did pop out quite easily. New ones just pop in.. very easy. Badge on boot came off with a little help from a cloth covered screw driver and new one came with adhesive strip already on so i wacked it on no problems and no marks from screw driver thankfully!

The deed is done...

Last night I said goodbye to my RRS! Big Cry

As some of you know, I'm moving back to BMW and have bought a 535d. This hasn't materialised yet, but the company that are buying the RRS from the BMW dealer didn't want any more miles on it (nearly 27k) so I'm now pootling around in a Silver Grey 530d demonstrator. Funny how even this beats the pants off the RRS in performance and driveability... Wink However, I do miss the elevated driving position and the ride is somewhat less comfortable on the damn runflats! Evil or Very Mad Anyway, mustn't grumble. I'm sure the 535d will be a SC-eating monster Laughing

Will take some pics of it later if I get some daylight!

Not sure yet mate... maybe by the weekend. But I'm having the dealer install the BMW iPod iDrive interface, so it might be a couple of days longer than normal anyway.

BMW iPod interface is pants compared to the aftermarket Dension offering.

Come to think of it, a run-of-the-mill BMW is pants compared to an RRS Sad Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!
