steering problem

Hi Guys, the RRS has developed a strange fault. when turning the steering wheel, it gets harder to turn then frees its self, best way to describe it is like a 50 pence piece, hope this makes sense. Checked fluid. all Ok
Any ideas guys
Cheers
Bob
