Over heating from time to time

Hi got a question I need answering got a 55 sport petrol supercharger,
Every now and then I get the temp level going upto the red? After a few seconds it drops? I looked at water level and had a air lock removed but it still happens every now and then?

Any ideas could something be sticking? Stat or anything else possible

Thanks
Rob

I could be driving alone stop and restart the car and it will do it? I ordered a switch today land rover think it could be that? It's mad coz it over heats and with in seconds it back to normal but my old heart is pumping when it's doing it

IIRC, a 55 plate is in the chassis range for the petrol models to have the Aux coolant pump to be wired the wrong way round.

4.2L V8 Supercharged Only VIN- range :5A901924-7A109767 are affected.

The cause is "the electrical harness supply and earth for the auxiliary coolant pump may be found to be cross connected in connector C3006, causing the Engine Control Module (ECM) to reduce power to prevent damage because the pump flow is low. The auxiliary coolant pump will be degraded because it has been running backwards".

Would that cause a air lock as well? Mine was fine until I had something changed on the stearing a angle join or something like that?
