Do I need Land Rover service plan and Pureguard?

A month to go until my new RRS turns up and the stealer is trying to sell me a L-R service plan for 5yrs at £749 and something called Pureguard at £399. Apparently, the latter is some kind of paint and interior upholstery protection system. I normally keep my cars 2-3yrs. Do I need either?

Bet you can't wait Cool

£749 for 5 year servicing is a no brainer IMO Wink

£399 for paint protection is a rip off . Either don't take it up, or spend your money more wisely and get a local detailing professional to add some decent protection to the car Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Service plan, as said, is a no brainer.

£749 will not go a long way as a full price retail service.

Good news for you guys, not good news for people like me Big Cry

As above ... the service pack is a no brainer...

More so now than ever before I wouldn't let a dealer touch my car paintwork..... let alone apply some

second rate protection...designed purely to screw more money out of you....

Their expertise is selling cars and mechanicals.... NOT bodywork and paint.....

As Bean said .... go get a professional detailer to do what they do best.... 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

Ask them to throw the Pureguard in as part of the deal. I had it on my car and to be honest can't see any difference.....

I'd rather pay not to have them do this to my car.

I assume the service plan is transferable so even if you keep the vehicle for 3 years, the 2 years left on the plan is a selling point when you move it on. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Personally I doubt whether a transferable service plan is much of a selling point particularly if I trade the car in so the question then becomes how many services will I have in a 2-3yr time period. Does anyone know whether the servicing schedule is every year or every 2yrs based on 15k miles pa? If its the latter then I will have just 1 service in a 3yr period and the service plan then isn't worth having, at least for me. If on the other hand, servicing is annual, then I guess it's worth it.
Agree on the Pureguard. Can't see any reason to have it

I believe service intervals are every 16,000 miles or 12 months, which ever comes first after the previous one or first registration.

I disagree, I think a service inclusive pack is a good selling point and something to squeeze the dealer on at trade in time. Smile

Either way, at £749, if you have more than 1 service you'll be quids in Thumbs Up

Have you got Service 1, 2 & 3 quotes in todays money? ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I'm selling my 3.0L ATB very soon as my supercharged is arriving. I bought the service pack with the 3.0L so the future owner will benefit more than I will from it. My question is, can a future owner buy the service pack or can it only be done at first registration? I wasn't going to bother with it on the supercharged as I'm only keeping it until my SVR will be delivered but before I commit to not having it I want to make sure a future owner can buy the service pack at a later date - as you guys say, it is definitely a non-brainer if you're having more than one service but I'm not so sure whether it actually increases the resale value. SOLD - 15 plate Estoril SVR

SOLD - 64 plate Aleutian Silver Supercharged

SOLD - 63 plate Corris SDV6 Autobiography

Just a word of warning on the service pack, although it may stay with the car, I would think it ties you to the dealer. After first service, if you are not happy with the dealer, you are stuck with them! Also , say you trade the RRS in for a Merc at a dealer 50 miles away , it then doesn't really appeal to the next owner.
That's how the Volvo one works anyway.

Cheers
