Rear Entertainment - Recommendations in Manchester

Just in the process of my first purchase RRS HSE. I require a DVD system for the kids in the rear, and was wondering if anyone can recommend any fitters in the Manchester area?

There are tonnes of firms out there offering a service, but would appreciate any recommendations from members.

Im looking for 2 screens fitted into the headrests, which play independently from each other, with the ability to upgrade at a later date to allow the use of a PS3 etc for when the kids are old enough.

Any help appreciated! 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Darren, If you just want the headrests with screens, DVD player and additional inputs, then there are loads on e-bay. Fitting is really straight forward. I'll dig out a link of one that was fitted to a D3 the other week. (D3 is same for headrests) Thumbs Up

Here it is....

I was quite impressed with the kit. Very straightforward to install. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

can not recommend a particular company to install

I have Rosen AV7500 in the old car, taken them out to put in to the new, as it will save the £1000 cost of the latest model, the AV7900 though they have allegedly HD screens and do look better, i have read a review about a group of people, which ended up having them removed, by the supplying Audi dealership as they could not get them to play USB film, due to codec issues

But they do have AV in to allow PS3 playing

i'm trying and failing to find a leather retrimmers who can do it, or even reply to me enquires so i can refit mine, but might end up buying iPads instead

I've seen the headrest DVD'S on Fleabay, but I cant find any in Ivory, just beige...

I've found a place in Rossendale, but it seems companies cant be arsed responding to an email quote request, so I might have to ring....

Unless anyone knows where I can get some Ivory built in headrests??? 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Decided to get in touch with a few interior re-trimmers to see how much it would cost to have purchased DVD's fitted into the existing headrests.

You can pick up the DVD's for a relatively low cost online, so this may be a cheaper option, which would mean being able to spend the saved money on something else for the car. I can see a saving of at least £300 from purchasing headrest DVD units, plus I know the colour match will be exact if I use my existing headrests.

Ive emailed about 7 companies this morning, so il see how many actually get back to me with a price. 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Managed to get 1 that has replied so far, but no price as of yet.

Ive seen Ivory Headrest DVD's ranging from 749.00 to 1249.00.

Im thinking:

Headrest Re-trim Fitting: £150?
Twin DVD's: £200-£300
Audio Shop Wire Up: £100

Total: £550 tops....

Plus I can have a really good look and get the DVD's that I want, not the ones that come pre-made. 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

I'm wondering if it might be easier to just have these re-trimmed in Ivory? Prob be a quicker and easier solution. 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

You get any replies from the trim companies yet?

If you go down this route, what kind of screens did you have in mind? The purpose built ones have the CD bay/USB drive built into the screen. If you're not going for these then what is the media input set up? 07 TDV8 + BAS map

I didnt really get any replies, none with prices anyway. They all wanted me to go in and see them.... Why?? Tossers.

Ive just spoken to a guy who's website stated beige, but they looked similar to my Ivory. I emailed him to ask, and he confirmed that they were beige, but what he could do is use a leather dye kit and change the colour. He said its not perfect, but really close. I was wondering if a light grey would be easier to get to the Ivory colour, than beige?

This has now got me thinking.... If I buy one of the advertised pre-installed headrests, I could use the dye kit to get the match in colour? I thought a few coats would help bring the colour as close as I can. If it doesnt work, then I can get the DVD's removed and put into my existing headrests? To me there doesnt seem much to lose, with the exception of the cost of the dye kit? 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Just on the old flea-bay and seen this option:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9-HD-LED-wide-an...19e398f927

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9-HD-Touchscreen...23431d3c55

Obviously doesnt look factory fit. Wondering what the overlap would be like.... These are 9" though. Wondering if they could be retro-fit into the headrest, but would need to get them next to it to see.... Hmmmm......

The only other option woud be something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ES900D-9-HD-2-Ca...257df56785

... and a bottle (or two) of Ivory dye.....

ive also not had any luck with re-trimmers. will keep trying as i really want the alpine screens. also want them to look factory fit as the mounted option (in my view) makes it more appealing for smash n grabs. 07 TDV8 + BAS map

Yeah, I get the grab & smash aspect, windows are tinted though so that aspect doesnt bother me. Im more bothered about how they look tbh.

Its funny though, Ive just picked up a portable DVD from Curry's tonight as my Son is going into hospital in the morning for surgery. Anyway, the DVD player weve bought him comes with a car fitting kit. It consists of an adaptor that sits fixed on the bars of the headrest (which blends in well), and then the DVD player clips into this and detaches. The DVD player itself has a swivel twist type screen. Im quite impressed as it only cost £65!

Looks better than the pic. Anyway, going to see what it looks like over the weekend/monday once my son is out of hospital. If it looks ok then I might go for this option, as it means I can unclick quickly and use in the house etc.... But I think il prob just install this is the Mrs Yaris!
