Knocking noise and vibration

On a hard left turn I get a knocking noise and vibration through the steering. Would suggest that noice and knocking occurs when the wheel turns one full revolution - any ideas, has this happened to anyone else?

Some serious answer would be good! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I get this sometimes in reverse, with full right lock on...

I'd assumed it was normal for 4x4s as the wife's FL does it too.

Not sure I'm describing the same problem as you have though, VA.. Confused

It doesn't happen on the hard right turn. Looks like I'm going to jack the car up, take the wheel off and have a look! I have a feeling this might have occured after my mud bath in Berkshire - I jet washed the underside of the car last weekend and stil had heaps of mud there, there is probably a stone lodged in somewhere. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

VA, your knock sounds like it could be a suspension damper creak / knock. It's difficult to tell by description alone. If it is really annoying i suggest a trip to the 'stealers'.

Shmoogle, it sounds as if your knock could be caused by the steering bump stops. Do you only get it on full lock in reverse? Or do you also hear it when you change from reverse back towards a forward motion? Do you get one loud knock and then nothing else, or does it knock everytime you reach full lock? Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. TB, mine only occurs in reverse on full right lock. Doesn't happen reversing to the left or at any other time... never thought anything of it, as Mrs S's Fl does exactly the same thing.

I have a very faint sensation of vibration when turing left sometimes, usually when the car is cold. It feels like a slight knock through the steering....maybe a problem in the making...god I hope not! Crying or Very sad

As TB says the 'knock' on full lock could well be the bump stops, a small amount of grease on them and all is fine. Vibration, not sure. Is the power steering fluid level OK?

Funny... when I reverse in full lock it feels like I went over something. This has happened on a smooth surface and I've got down to check - nothing there. Its a feeling like you just went over a pencil... Mad

This only happens sometimes though! Confused Malaysia Boleh!

Knocking when turning Left

Ihad the ame problem, the service techs said it didn't sound serious until they changed the steering rod.

I only felt this when turning left power out of the turn

RR apparently had a circular sent out just in case somebody had this problem which I did am sure many others do as well.

good luck Love the sport. First the 2005 TDV6, now the 2011 Supercharged. Absolutely brilliant!
