this is my 08 fire damaged sport i bought for £600, the engine had caught fire due to a failed diesel line to the pre heater totally destroying everything in the engine bay.inside only sustained minor smoke damage to front area.

I've seen some nasty smashed up cars get repaired to an outstanding condition, I remember my brother getting a new jag xkr is which needed a full new floor, boot and boot floor I personally would write it off but it got repaired. Or putting a new roof on a car seems crazy but I've seen it done! Then there is the machine to straighten the chassis..

But I thought any flooded or fire damage would be too far gone, £600 is a good starting point though.

This RRS will never see the road again

For a start, there is no chassis.

You can't use a 2nd hand chassis for VIC reasons. There's £3,500 straight away

A 2nd hand 2.7 engine (minus ancillaries) is £2,500

Allow another £1,000 for 2nd hand turbo, alternator, starter, A/C + P/S pumps.

New chassis wiring loom is best part of £1,500.

New body wiring loom is another £1,000, assuming the wiring and CJB behind the dash is all OK, and not damaged

Getting up to what it would cost to buy a complete + running early RRS. And all before any labour is taken into account

I reckon for what it would cost to put this back on the road, you could buy a complete 08MY RRS...

Is this a BC wind up? He did allude to him possibly coming back to the RRS fold?
