Exhaust

Having an exhaust made up today for my SC want to have more of a growl, the super charger noise from the front is nice but need more from the back. Was down at Overfinch last week had a black converted one there sounded the dogs but more than £1200.00 plus fitting no thanks.

Will let you all know how it sounds as we are going to play around with the noise, plus will add the photo's of course

I think the JE exhaust is only about £600-700 with free fitting for forum members.

Laughing Laughing

My folks live in Biggin Hill (i.e. the same as the Battle of Britain RAF base etc) and when there was still an airworthy Vulcan, it used to display at the airshow there. It made an immense noise... esp on banked climbs. Eventually, it was banned from attending as too many windows ended up shattered, seriously. Fantastic aircraft Very Happy

That takes me back Embarassed

Many, many moons ago, I went to an air display at RAF Finningley and part of the display was a "scramble" of 4 Vulcans. The noise was staggering and the ground literally shook Shocked Shocked

They also had a "contest" between a USAF Phantom and an RAF Lightning. It consisted of a low level "race", in which the Phantom was just nudging ahead and then at a specified point right in front of the main crowd, they stood them on their tails and went vertical. As this point, the Lighning left the Phantom absolutely for dead and just disappeared into the clouds Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
For those who don't know, the Lightning was more like a barely guided rocket than a plane and the climb rate was astounding.

Alas there are so many rules and regulations governing air displays nowadays that you'd never see anything like that these days. Not to say you don't see some great stuff though... Very Happy

It is relatively easy to make an exhaust sound nice and loud at certain revs, it is a much more complex job to make sure it sounds okay throughout the entire rev range without sounding boomy.
