My 2010 HSE

Having lurked for a few weeks I figured it's time to say hi to everyone.

A couple of weeks ago I traded my 2013 Freelander 2 for the car I really wanted, a 2010 RRS HSE 3.0 TDV6 in Nara Bronze with the Arabica/Almond interior. Quite high mileage (for me) at 58K but I believe it's been reliable for the one previous owner and so of course I hope that continues with me Smile

It's got a couple of extras such as a sunroof and surround camera system and I bought it through a main dealer for the warranty etc. Glad I did as it already had a new compressor and ARB bushes and it's going back tomorrow for a new windscreen and front offside camera! I'm also paying an extortionate sum to have the sat nav updated but this will be a one off for the next few years and so hopefully worth it in the long run.

Next week I'm taking the car to Germany for the week and will put about another 2000 miles on it.

Anyway, as I know I'm bound to have some questions over time... Hi everyone... here's some pics.

Thanks for the comments so far. Yes, I'll be sure to let you know how the trip goes. My wife is German and so it's a fairly regular trip for us to go and see her folks.

I love this car so far. Having had a few Jags and then a Mercedes SL I made a big mistake buying the Freelander. Not that it's a bad car - just lacking in the refinement I like. I'd let my head rule the decision, thinking I was being sensible, which of course for anyone who cares about their cars is a huge mistake. From now on my heart will win every time Smile

I'll write a separate report on this in the dealer section but the dealer I've bought it from has so far given me great service, replacing everything we've found wrong or damaged - truly living up to the approved used car standards.

About the only thing I'd like to change at the moment is the accelerator travel. For my driving style I prefer a shorter travel which usually gives quicker response and makes it easier, for me anyway, to hold constant speeds. I won't do anything at this stage that would void the warranty but I'm curious if anyone's ever fitted a spintbooster or similar? I fitted one to my SL which also had long pedal travel and it transformed it.

Thanks.

Just a couple of shots to show the interior and the Arabica/Almond contrast. I really like it.

Also one of the engine bay. Nothing special or unusual but I am impressed with the cleanliness and condition...

As for shortening the accelerator travel that's exactly what a sprintbooster is designed to do. Some people mistakenly think it improves performance like getting a car chipped or remapped but in fact all it does is shorten accelerator travel which can certainly give the impression of improved performance Smile

United Kingdom

We returned to the UK on Saturday and I'm delighted to say the car performed flawlessly for the 2000 or so miles of the previous week. Here's a phone shot of it at the first rest stop in Holland on the way over...

Absolutely effortless cruising in the 140/160 kph range and a wonderful quality to the ride. Managed to average 29.5mpg for the trip which I'm delighted with. It's a shame on returning to the UK to be reminded once again just how awful our roads are. We must be a laughing stock of Europe.

Just a couple of small issues that were known before we left for the dealer to sort out now - booked in for next week.

I love this car and if it remains reliable I can see it being around for a few years yet.
