Gearbox mega flush or filter change ?

What's the difference between a full mega flush AND a filter change with oil drain ? Or technically are they as good as each other ? I'm hearing people saying they have had a mega flush BUT not saying they have had the filter changed ?

The filters are still clean, even after 150k miles.

A "megaflush" is the way to go

A drain and refill with oil only changes 4 litres or so of old oil
A double flush will replaces 6.5 litres
A "megaflush" is the only way to replace the full 11 litres of oil in the gearbox

Thumbs Up

I've found a firm called Quattro auto care in York that does the mega flush for £260. Disco mikey, so the filter DEFO doesn't need changing ??? I've got 112000 miles on my RRS. No real problems tbh slight shunt etc more of a preventative plan than anything else !

Shad rack yes that's including VAT ! I'm just waiting for a bit more info from disco mikey as to why the filter doesn't need changing ? Surely it's full of c**p after 112000 miles ? I think 260 inc is a good price but can't compare it as I've never had this done before !

ive also never had it done but i thought i had a gearbox issue a few months ago which turned out to be a odd tyre and not the box, however since then i thought a megger flush could be needed for piece of mind, so how about we both contact them and see if they do a little forum discount say book mine and yours in and do them at £230 each? or get 5 of us and see if they do £200

I'd be more than willing to see if we can strike a deal with them if anyone else was willing ?

Mine had that shunt. Gearbox oil and filter done at 114,650 miles

Shunt was always present. Gearchanges were a bit slow

Remap has amplified these issues, and now 5th gear is Censored

So a straight mega flush will be fine then mate ? When you did yours did you see the oil that came out ? Was it very dirty ? Have you noticed a difference ? Cheers

Yes, the oil was very black, and very smelly!

I can't say I noticed a difference as I had not driven the car by this point. I bought it as a non runner
However, at 115k miles, the damage had already been done. The box needs flushed every 60-75k as advised by the gearbox manufacturer
