Anyone know of a garage not too far from the Newcastle area that can carry out the autobox flush. I know of one in York but a bit closer to "the toon" would be nice 2010 RRS, TDV8

Being a bit of a newbie around here.

What is a 'megaflush', and what's the point of it ?

Megaflush is the trade name for a method of changing all of the fluid in your automatic gearbox. Basically the system pumps out the old fluid and simultaneously pumps in new fluid.

It's done because the usual method of draining via the drain point only changes about 40% of the old fluid.

LR claim the gearbox is sealed for life (150,000 miles) but ZF ,who manufacture the gearbox, recommend fluid change at 70,000 - 80,000 miles. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi Mat
The place is called Quattro auto care and is located in Riccall..... Around the Selby area I believe. I think the price was around the £260 mark. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Could we not make a pump? Was thinking of an elec hydraulic pump, 2 catch tanks equal to the amount of fluid in the box. Then a hose to the inlet and drain?

What you think?

I think their may be a bit more to these machines than just sucking out the old oil and pumping in new. Have one look on U tube for Winns flushing machine or transverse, there is video of one in action. Apparently there are not a lot of these in the UK and being quite a clever bit of kit they are more of a recovery machine rather than a straight forward pump. I believe they measure what comes out and only the same amount of oil is replaced. It's not the sort of thing I would like to have a diy go at and get it wrong! 2010 RRS, TDV8

Thumbs Up

The machine is connected into the cooler pipes, and uses the oil pump inside the gearbox to push the old oil out. The machine measures the quantity of oil removed, and automatically replaces it with new oil, from a separate container, so the new and old oil doesn't mix

There is a little viewing window, which allows you to see the condition of the old oil, and when completed, the new oil too. This car was not too bad, I have seen some boxes push out a thick brown sludge Shocked

The machine is rather expensive, hence why there are not many of these machines in the UK.

Thumbs Up

Depends how far I have to travel, and how many cars need done in the same area.

If it is local to me, and I don't have to spend hours travelling, £275 inc VAT
If it is further afield, it depends on distance, however this can be offset if there are 3 or 4 cars needing done in the area Thumbs Up
