Final spec question - HSE or Dynamic?

It's make my mind up time next week. Thanks to the advice of the forum I'm going for Loire Blue/Indus roof and the 825W Meridian surround system but I can't make up my mind between an HSE with Off Road pack and a Dynamic. I'm really not bothered about the cosmetic differences and frankly I favour the 20" wheels of the HSE over the 21" wheels of the Dynamic for ride reasons. I'm also not that bothered about the better on road driving characteristics of the Dynamic. I am coming from a FFRR so any new RRS is going to handle better than that and I have other vehicles in the garage to satisfy my need for speed. So it comes down to this. How much difference does the rear diff of the Dynamic package make to off road driving? Not that I do much in the way of off road driving but it would be a shame to get stuck one day in a muddy field or on an icy road for the want of a rear diff. Yes I know tyres will make more of a difference but lets assume that I'm going to stick with whatever tyres L-R give me

I seem to be in much the same position as you. I have other cars for more enthusiastic driving so I chose the HSE (non-dynamic) in Loire blue with the standard 20 inch wheels and tyres. I do have the Off-road pack, however.

This does not get you the electronic rear diff. as you have identified. The RRS which I drove in the LR Experience off road day had the 20 inch wheels and the dynamic rear diff. I was looking at the display which shows you the lock status. It did lock up from time-to-time but whether this makes a lot of difference is not clear. The centre diff. locked up a lot more often.

I do not miss having the dynamic pack for road use as, frankly, the RRS lends itself to comfortable cruising with the SDV6 and 20 inchers. I think if you got the SCV8 then I could see the attraction.

In fact, it goes round corners more than adequately for all normal purposes. Regards

Malcolm

I'd go HSE, Loire looks great with the silver vents. Thumbs Up Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Thanks malcolmw. I did an Experience Day too in a RRS Dynamic and like you, I noticed the rear diff locking up regularly which is actually what prompted my question. The instructor was not able to say how much difference the rear diff made. I will definitely go for the Off Road pack with the HSE model if I go down that route, which seems most likely

Having driven the HSE and Dynamic I decided on the Dynamic.

If you are going to spend most of your time town/city driving or on the motorway, then the HSE will probably be great. If you live in an area where you have winding roads then go for the Dynamic.

Was there a lot of difference in the ride quality?

I wondered about speccing an HSE, then adding on road/off road pack.

I like the idea of dynamic but am also a great fan of ride comfort...

I'd go dynamic too. Great colour choice BTW, but I personally prefer the black trim of a Dynamic to the silver of an HSE. And spec the colour coded sills and quarters. Car looks more finished with them done, especially in blue. Smile

Don't think you can spec colour coded sills unless it's an Autobiography. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

I had dynamic on my be and to be honest it IMO make any difference , however the 2 dynamic has the torque vectoring which would be a massive improvement I find with my new hse it feels and I do drive it a lot faster the wife thinks like my Giti when we met , the dynamic would suit me better rob. 2014/5 rr sport hse, Marianna black , silver roof , silver door mirror caps , privacy , deployable tow bar

Doesn't matter what else you have to satisfy the need for speed...

When your driving the one you're in you want it to drive the best it can.. and enjoy its abilities to the full...

Dynamic every time for me....

why cut corners ... Surprised 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

Exactly with the dynamic I would be able to go round the corners instead of having to cut them.
