Another newbie

Hello!

I joined this site after buying my first RRS to hopefully find out some good advice for looking after it.

I had a wee 1.3 corsa c before it so it's been a dramatic change! Now that I'm use to the size I love it!

It's a 55plate 2.7HSE and gets 18mpg normal driving, I must say I am delighted with this as I wasn't expected over 10mpg in the town.

I'm planning on some exterior modifications, I want wind deflectors and to replace the side vent to the red edition one. Going to get the alloys refurbed as I'm not a fan of this all black look. I fancy the overfinch silver colour as they stand out very well.

Has anyone on here got a dog guard/crate in the boot? I compete my dogs and need something that will allow me to leave the boot open but prevent them escaping or another else getting in the car?

I don't have many pics on my car yet but here are some when I picked it up and my gang of dogs in the back

Have fun with your new motor - I bet the weren't much space in the Corsa when the dogs were packed in !.

These cars have complex electrics so keep an eye on battery voltage and charging.

You mat already know this but just in-case; the camshafts are belt driven and the belt needs changing at 7 years or 105,000 miles but best done before. Do you know the service history - check if belts have been replaced?

18mpg sounds higher than I would have expected unless you're on very short runs - if you bought from a garage I'd get it checked out.

There was no space in the corsa so needed to upsize.

The car only has one year service missing but over the 2 years it's only did 4k so I expect it was off the road and never got serviced.

I'm not really sure what to do about the servicing, it was done prior to me buying it but its going to be 10 this year which is a big service but only at 70k milesand the service is for 150k so it's not even half way there. The local LD garage said it would be £800 for the service but when I read it it was only checking the belts not changing them so I didn't think that was right?

What else needs changed at 10yrs? Just things like the transmission oil?

It doesn't really go far when I'm home just work and the dog classes, but gets good motorway runs when I go back to visit my parents as they are in Scotland and I'm in England now, also a fab change for 3 1/2 hrs in the corsa to cruise control in my RRS

Thanks Peachy my dogs are my babies although only 3 of them are mine 2 and my parents and 1 is my boyfriend Smile.

And as for miles per trip, very few, but I'm too lazy and chicken to use other transport methods.

The RRS came with lots of little extras like the Kahn alloys and hawke exhaust and a remap so I don't really have to do anything to it Cool

Decided to treat my RR for the winter and painted his calipers as I got a new one fitted and changed my bulbs, they were all meant to be white but the full beam is still yellow Big Cry much brighter though Thumbs Up
