tow bar

Hi
I looked under my new ( 06 ) RRS and see there is sort of a place to fit a tow bar with a red plastic insert? Can anyone tell me whats needed and how to get a tow bar? Working with Virgin Trains and band of Brothers/Sisters to do something special for our injured servicemen and women

You just need the removable two bar which slips into that socket and locks with a key - on ebay for around £150. Or you can fit the heavy duty height adjustable system (looks like an oil rig hanging out the back) for more. You'll need single or twin electrics fitted and wired in to the cars systems. Electrics I think are around the same price supplied looking on ebay as well. I can't imagine it would take an auto electrician or fitting centre long to wire this in.

I was quoted about £200 by a good Indy to supply and fit single electrics

I've just fitted a towbar pack myself, Using the 13 pin socket.

Got the detachable towbar from E-Bay for £150 brand new, and got the plug and play electrical harness from the main dealer.................. Don't want to risk fitting some Chinese cheap rubbish that will fail in a few months.

There's a video on youtube showing how to fit the lot, plus the harness comes with it's own bad instructions.

Took around two hours to fit myself.

Done the whole thing for £300.00 compared to the dealers price of over £800.00

If he's supplying the L/R OEM part, I'd let him do it for that price. In fact, I'm not sure how he can do it for that price, unless he's getting a good discount from L/R.

Just read your original post concerning 'single electric's'.................. Which is probably a different harness than the twin or 13 pin socket.

The fixed tow bar is recommended if you are towing often and heavy loads. I believe the nose weight goes up from 150kg to 250kg. I bought the fixed one from Webber for £225 off Amazon. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!
