Depends how much you paid for them!! I always put my standard 20s with snow tyres on during the winter, the thought of slipping into a curb on the 22s gives me the shivers....! TDV8 Java Black, Overfinch 22s

If you fit winter tyres they'll be fine. Rubber band summer slicks on the other hand? Yikes! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Why wouldn't normally tyres be fine? We have 4 wheel drive?

Your car also weighs around 2.5T and once it starts sliding, four wheel drive probably won't save you. 2015 Golf R DSG

Physics still applies to 4x4s Rolling Eyes

Four wheel drive can give you better traction when accelerating (but even then you don't get velcro-like grip) but it doesn't help when braking or when cornering. The same grip levels apply to your RRS on shallow treaded summer tyres as it does to every other car on the road. And your RRS weighs up to a tonne more than many other cars so once it starts sliding...

One of the most common sights on snowy days is 4x4s sat in hedges because the drivers think "4x4 = total grip". 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I've driven for 25 years and have never once gone into a kerb AND I live in London.
Snow tyres seem pointless unless living in the countrywide?

First experience in snow in my RRS - straight lines not a problem - corners was squeaky bum time - slid everywhere - 22's & Toyo tyres - agree with most of the above Crying or Very sad IMO you still need to demonstrate extreme caution Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

1. Winter tyres are not just for snow. They perform better in all cold conditions - even just cold wet roads.
2. If you live in London then you probably benefit from the heat island effect more than most so don't see such low temperatures as often as others.
3. If you live in London you probably benefit from gritting more than most.
4. If you live in London you probably have better access to public transport as an alternative in bad weather.
5. If you're happy with your tyre choice, then fine. Advice was sought by someone and given by others. We don't promise not to say "told you so" if you ever come on here and say "I damaged a rim sliding on snow" Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver

So last winter on my MY10 TDV8 I had winter tyres on 20" rims.

Of course that guaranteed one of the mildest winters in memory, so I never got to experience their cold weather or snow performance.

I have now changed to a MY14 TDV6 and have just swapped the supplied 22" rims for 20" wheels fitted with 255/55r20' Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season tyres. Living in Southern England means we may not see much snow or cold weather but my question is.....

Has anyone used the Scorpion Verde All Seasons in snow or ice? And if so would you be happy to live with them or would you replace them with proper winter tyres? MY2010 TDV8 purchased Jan 2017
MY14 HSE Dynamic 3.0 SDV6 sold Sept 2015
MY 2010 TDV8 sold April 2014
MY 2007 V6 HSE sold July 2013
