Another spec question - sound system?

Since I ordered my new RRS several months ago, a new option has appeared in the configurator, a Meridian 825W surround surround system at £1000. Anyone heard this system and is it a worthwile upgrade over the standard system?

IMO the standard system is fine , I had a upgraded system in my 1023 BE , whether I just don't have a ear for it I don't know but to be honest I can't tell the difference ( that should be 2013 BE ) Rob 2014/5 rr sport hse, Marianna black , silver roof , silver door mirror caps , privacy , deployable tow bar

For me the 825W was a no-brainer. Thought the basic system was pretty ordinary. 825w system sounds pretty good to me and I'm glad I opted for it. But really it depends on the individual's ear. SDV8 arrived and fantastic even the infotainment!

Meridian are a highly regarded UK hi-fi manufacturer - I have some of their equipment and they specialise particularly in active loudspeakers where the amplifiers are in the speakers rather than a central lump.

I think the upgrade to the "basic" Meridian system is a no-brainer too; if you like music, you will enjoy this system. I have a baby version of the system in my Evoque and it's great, far better than in any other of my cars. The upgrade beyond the £1000 system is, for me, a step too far; this is the one that has some sort of speech reinforcement so that you can hear the passengers scream over the sound of the sports exhaust in the SVR...

Keep in mind these things tend not to be upgradeable, so once you've got it, you are stuck with it. If, on the other hand, you mostly listen to Radio 2 and Classic FM, the basic system will be fine. Mark

I'm very disappointed with the standard system... I had no choice however as I bought an ex-demo!

Funnily enough I just took it to an in-car audio specialist for a quote (Freeway Audio in Dandenong) and they checked it out - the standard system has no sub and believe it or not there are no speakers behind the middle grills of the front door (round ones by the arm rests)! Quite unbelievable for what we pay for these cars.

A sub really brings presence to the car audio (and I'm not talking about a big round speaker in a box taking up the boot here)...

Quote to improve this is $2k and I'll have to have a specific sub made up for the boot as there is too much electrical shannanigans under the seats (and I've +2 in the boot).

Really wished they'd originally spec'ed the Meridian... A no brainer for me if I'd been in charge of the spec sheet. And of course it'll be all OEM and integrated. And supposedly sounds great. MY15.5 Fuji White, SDV8 HSE Dyn Stealth Pack

No brainer here as well.... One the first ticks on the spec for me.

If you push the basic system just a little or use any bass it is going to distort and thud.

If you have the faintest interest in music .. especially anything other than tubular bells.. then it's a must imo 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's
