Things I don't like about my RRS

I've now had my RRS for 3 months and I was just thinking about the things I don't like about it. There aren't many as I have found the car comfortable, easy to drive and reliable. These are as follows:

The driving seat is slightly too narrow for me (my wife says I ought to lose weight and stop moaning)
The satnav always wants me to "Agree" with something everytime I use it!
The 20" wheels are so easy to scuff and mark up on the rim
The slight "suicide hesitation" when pulling away from a junction can be tiresome
I can't sit on the edge of the boot without dirtying the back of my trousers (not a problem on the RRFF)

And that's about it!

Can anyone else think of something that should go on the list?

Yes - they are all valid complaints. In the winter you'll add another one to the list - which is that when the screens are frosted up first thing in the morning and you have inadvertently left the wiper stalk in auto mode the wipers drag themselves across the frozen screen when you start up or if they are really frozen might even damage the linkage or motor trying to move. Just to add insult to injury the rear wiper will do the same when you select reverse!
Best to try to remember to push the stalk downwards before switching the engine on.

The auto wipers are irritating as they always seem to go too fast or too slow for the conditons. I've recently found that applying RainX and fitting new wiper blades helps by eliminating the noise of the blades squeaking across a slightly too dry screen Thumbs Up

There's nothing you can do about the sat nav 'agree' screen Big Cry

Next time you buy new tyres buy some with the 'rim protection' option. Not all tyre manufacturers offer this but Toyo certainly do or did. You'd have to check on one of the online vendor's website (e.g. mytyres.co.uk).

The suicide hesitation seems to be caused by the car setting off in 2nd gear. Sometimes resetting the adaptations (you need a OBD tool to do it) helps a lot. Or just drop it into Sport mode. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

The suicide hesitation you mention can be overcome with a remap, if it's the 3.0 TDV6 then you can release another 50bhp and increase the torque to 700nm ..... Huge difference on overtaking and better fuel consumption. Have a look at my review when I had it done. 2011 RRS 3.0TDV6 HSE Santorini Black, black leather, 22" Calibre Altus black / polished wheels, full colour coded.

Before it stops after the address until you press "destination", and even after that you must press "start". By the time you have finished pressing buttons, you could be almost there..........

Worst still, on early ones that are not tweaked, you have to pull over to do all that button pressing as it locks out on the move.

Its a woeful system compared to the cheapest Tomtom.

Two more minor things to add:

The silver air vent surrounds at each end of the dashboard, reflect really badly in the windows obscuring the view in the wing mirrors,
The wide tyres (275/40-20) are rubbish in the rain, especially if I hit any standing water!

Every car has it's negatives that to other people it doesn't effect.

The split folding tailgate is nice to sit on when pulling boots off.

I also shift to manual to make it set off in first when needed.

Dropping tailgate would have been nice touch, the satnag is garbage in all the old models, the hesitation bothered me when I had a V6's so mapping was obligatory, the only other thing that bothered me apRt from the Fisher-Price build quality was the rear interior lights didn't come on with the doors open. Why would any designer think that ok?
If you drive too close to curbs you will scuff the wheels, I managed 7 years without marking any, bent a couple on pot holes Big Cry and at 6.2 ft and 102 kgs found the seats held perfectly, try going round a round about quick in a Fullfat, it's only the door and centre console/armrest that stop you exiting stage right or left. Seats are completely flat so you sit on not in the seat Rolling with laughter 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Flack tried mine and could not do it, so they do not all work with software update. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

I think with an 06 software update you also need a newer map disk then it should work.
