RRUK - My Supercharged has landed!!

Spoke to Stratstones today, wanted to check if there were any updates since I have been away...the car has a chassis number and apparently is built, awaiting delivery to the dealer which he expects to be by the weekend.

Fingers crossed I'll get a call this time next week to say it's there and going into the workshop for fitments and PDI.

I am waiting to hear from my dealer today that they finally have the car in from Land Rover...mind you I don't expect the call to be early as the salesman was off on a stag do all weekend so will no doubt be slow to act...

I want to call them but it would make me seem like I am some sort of fetishist.

RRUK,

How come you are having colour coded mirrors on your new Sport? Are you getting this done afterwards or is LR doing this? Or are these just the chrome mirror caps? Matt

Re Mirrors

After seeing silver range rovers with colour coded mirrors I fancied it, plus it will make it stand out a little more. The dealer are doing this in their bodyshop. L319 D4 HSE

Bad News already....

Well I finally managed to speak to my dealer today after leaving 3 messages over the past 24 hours for someone to please call me with an update. Mad

It appears that the car has not even arrived at the dealer yet, and apparently unless it arrives tomorrow my planned pick up of this weekend goes out the window. All my plans, shot. Crying or Very sad

Needless to say I am not happy, I'm sick to death of crap hire cars and I just want my car. It's frustrating to hear that the car is built etc and it's just delayed because Pendragon have not yet got round to delivering it. Twisted Evil

The dealer has promised to let me know by the end of play today when it will be delivered and therefore when it can be PDI'd and prepped.

It's not looking good..

Well, despite the promise the dealer did NOT ring me by the end of play yesterday to give me an update, and I have since called again this morning...seems he is always 'on the phone' when I call.

I am getting very very tired of this already and am contemplating drastic action. I've been looking through the used Range Rover section on Landrover's website and still love the L322 shape, and for about £15K less than I am about to pay for this RRS S/C I could have a newly broken in 2005 model vogue, I even found a lovely one with the VIP pack on it and an Autobiography with the mobile theatre and VIP pack too for less than £45K and low miles. I could walk in today and buy it without any fuss.

I think when (or if) the dealer bothers to call me back I will tell him how it is, and that I am close to walking out on the deal, cos right now I don't feel like a customer spending £59K. L319 D4 HSE

I know how you feel RRUK,

I've just phoned my dealer - he at least take my calls - to be told the sob story about the transport co going bust and a new contract awarded but there's a backlog.

So my car which was due on 12/09 is now looking more like 01/10.

I'm being a patient as I can be but it does spoil the whole experience a little.

It's a holiday up here on Monday and I had hoped to take the car away this weekend but don't feel like going now.

An update

After a firm complaint call to the Head of Sales at Stratstones I get a response within half an hour telling me that they know my car has been released by Landrover for delivery but there's a backlog, so they are trying to organise for the collection on their transporter tomorrow. They are going to try and get it PDI'd before saturday, otherwise they MAY lend me a car for the day.

Funny how when you threaten to cancel your order they sit up and listen more...and yes, I am the type of beligerant b*stard who would cancel the order 2 days before delivery, take back my £1000 deposit, walk into the nearest rival dealership and buy an-other car just to spite them. Never mind the 3 month wait, the anticipation etc, I'd just do it.

Talking to Noddy (new user) on PM, he said his dealer lent him a car for a week when his was delayed, gave him a set of carpet mats, a full tank of fuel etc, however, it does look like they shafted him on the DR pack.

I'm thinking of starting a more user friendly dealership... L319 D4 HSE

Don't mention the S word!!! Stratstones.... wonderful Stratstones... Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

My wife's current Freely came from there. It's a wonder it EVER got delivered. A colleague of mine sitting just over the way there, got a Disco from there and most of it fell to pieces within a week of delivery without them wanting to know anything about it (quite literally bits breaking off in his hands and others found under the car as he'd drive away - serious Fri afternoon car) and in the 6 months he's had the car, he has threatened them with legal action twice before getting particularly knotty issues sorted out.

I know it's no good to you now, RRUK, but I wouldn't use them if they put a million quid in the back as a delivery gift. I doubt your next LR will come from there, will it? Smile

Cheers

sigh of relief

Well,

It seems the hard word may have worked, the dealer rang me and said they are picking the car up in the morning personally from the factory, will start the PDI on thursday afternoon, leaving friday for VentureTape to do their work and get the wing mirrors done.

He has told me it will be ready for Saturday as originally planned for 10.30am. However all that depends on whether they can get the V55 done in time and if my insurance company pull their finger out.

Happier now. Smile L319 D4 HSE
