Retro-fit Zenons?

Hi All,

Just picked up an ex-demo MY14 and wondered if anyone knows if the zenons can be retro-fitted?

I have the question in with the dealers service dept. but doesn't seem hopeful from initial response.

Thanks MY15.5 Fuji White, SDV8 HSE Dyn Stealth Pack

Sorry can't help you but in the UK Xenons are standard. Must be a different story for the Australian market? Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

United Kingdom

At least here in the UK, Xenons have to come with headlight wash and self-levelling to reduce dazzle to other drivers. So any fitment of xenon headlamp units (would cost a fortune) might have to include these elements as well. Mark

Looks like it is standard in the U.S. as well...

Can't locate an Aus specific brochure however. MY15.5 Fuji White, SDV8 HSE Dyn Stealth Pack

I opted for Xenons as part of the $3000 Comfort package on my SE. Have to say they're great on low beam but very disappointing on high beam. Nowhere as good as my old Sport. Friend of mine has halogens and has since had MLR fit a pair of light forces on a Bushranger X bar which fitted where the number plate is. They had to reinforce a bit but friend says they work really well. Cost him $1400 a lot less than the comfort pack which had stuff I didn't really want.
Have heard that the Aussie market is JLRs most profitable... No wonder if all the other markets have some of these extras standard.
As far as retrofitting the Xenons I'm pretty sure it's not possible as the writing loom is different. You might wanna. Go the driving lights route.
Fantastic car though am always wanting to take it for a spin.

Jools SDV8 arrived and fantastic even the infotainment!

Nice 2013 Freelander TD4 manual (for daughter to learn on) with much better stereo compared with previous SD4 SE with Meridian which sounded bad!

Hi rangiejools,

Thanks for your reply... doesn't sound hopeful and I've not heard back from the dealer.

Not happy with the halogens, not a patch on the xenons in my old RRS. May have to look at an alternative like you suggested.

I wonder if different, brighter bulbs can be fitted (must admit I know nothing about this stuff!).

Speak to Peter Snieg (Sniegy) at MLR sister company of ULR. He's the one who fitted my friends Lightforce lights. Really nice bloke, an enthusiast and very helpful. SDV8 arrived and fantastic even the infotainment!

Had a tip from Rex Gorrell LR dealer to try replacement halogens and was recommended Phillips as they are supposed to be 60-100% brighter, I think the following are compatible and seem to have good reviews:

http://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/phili...ight-bulbs
http://www.autobarn.com.au/philips-h7-x-tr...-12972xvsm

I aim to test them out this weekend... assuming an easy swap over by accessing the back of the headlamps via the engine bay?

Does anyone know if I need to buy two sets - one each for high/low beam??

Definite cannot retrofit the LR Xenon headlamps from all dealers asked, however I've seen there are conversion kits around -anyone tried this or have comments?

See this guy (OK Evoque) http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread...e-Retrofit but have seen similar offerings from other companies on the web.

As per previous comment however, I think there is more to this to make them legal and I don't think I'll go down this path (also concerned about warranty). MY15.5 Fuji White, SDV8 HSE Dyn Stealth Pack
