I only have experience of a TDV8 and it is truely the best car I have ever owned, and there have been some nice cars in the past. Now 6 or 7 weeks in and no problems so far, hope I haven't just jinxed it. I have pulled tintents with several cars and I would love to get one behind my RRS, not sure it would notice it though, until I needed more diesel. |

Hence my dilemma. My Sport didn't even blink with tintent or works trailer. Nothing pulls like a V8 so having only had a chipped TDv6 in not sure I could live with the drop in performance long term 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

To be brutally honest I now have a 30SDV HSE which replaced a TDV8 and under normal everyday use and average traffic conditions I can't say I notice any material difference.

I drove an SDV6 Disco for a few weeks when my V8 was in dry dock and was impressed with it and the economy, just that thought in back of head about towing. I'm going to make some enquiries with my local dealer and see if they have one with tow bar and borrow it for few hours. If it will pull ok in standard form then with a chip it will be ok for my use. Have been driving a standard V8 for a year nearly and it's been fine, SD isn't a million miles away from that. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

A couple of hours, with the 'van hooked up, would give you time (just plus a bit) to take a trip up Porlock and through Lynton and Lynmouth coming back across Blackmore Gate - you'd soon now if it towed OK |

Not only a good test, but fantastic scenery too! That gorge takes my breath away every time I drive through it. |

Simple1 - I have been looking at swapping my TDV8. Having driven the SDV6 you'll have to go for the later one with the 8 speed box in my view as this helps compensate for the lack of grunt compared with the V8.

Out of interest, what don't you like about the FF Simple1? |

Several things. I can't get comfortable in the arm chairs and it's the door or centre consol that holds you in, it won't go round a corner with any confidence and it is too open plan, after the wrap around feeling you get in a Sport. The other issue, which is why I got rid of my last FF in 2005 and bought a Sport, was the height issue. Max headroom in most of Bath's car parks is 1.9 m. Even with the suspension slammed, it's to close to the lights and barriers to risk trying. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

That's where I'm going wrong Paul, all the roads round here got corners. I know the 8 speed is the one to have, going to drive both tomorrow and decide which way to go after that. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Yes, I do like the wrap round feel of the RRS, you just seem to be hugged in the seat. |
