You really should have gone for the electric towbar, only a bit more expensive but so worth it! Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Gone but not forgotten:
2014 RRS2 SDV6 HSE in Loire Blue
2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE in Santorini Black

Hi Renaco - have thought about a small padlock , or even changing the pin to a bolt - but on a £64k car should I really being doing that .

Interestingly yesterday I was on the web and noticed the Land Rover bike rack is lockable - it seems they have worked out things get stolen so lets lock the bike rack to the tow bar - oooops

At time of ordering the electric tow bar was nearly £2k - £1300.00 extra to deploy a tow bar seemed a lot of money

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Orkney Grey

Pretty shoddy design by LR.

Even without LR's help and the advantage of the easily removed pin a determined thief can easily undo the two ball hitch bolts !!!

When parked I use a Motorcycle cable lock around the attached item (bike rack, trailer etc) through car's towing eye.

Scotland 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Santorini Black

Is there a towing eye where you can loop a plastic coated bike lock through it and round the bike carrier? That's what I do with my MY10. Also have a long one running through the bike frames when parked up. Just keeps an honest man out really!

Cheers

Hi Photo as taken at about the same angle as the Land Rover brochure. You will notice the silver 'ring'. this is the pull tab for the 'lock' . Pull this and then pull the big locating pin from the other side.

Using two hands I am now down to less than 5 seconds !!

Change the quick release clip and use a small padlock.

There is an "after market" locking pin mechanism available - not sure where you can pick one up, but should be available anywhere you would find trailer parts.

Here in Australia this is how all our towing systems are. A tongue that fits into the subframe with a pin. The deployable system is not available here. You can definitely get a lockable pin, plenty on eBay. Just Google "Locking pin for tow ball tongue"

I will search for the locking pin, but as a temporary measure I have now drilled the pin and fitted my own padlock.
Not happy that I have had to do what LR should have done

Just looking at the height adjustable tow hook and can see your point however here it is illegal to have one deployed unless it's actually in use, yes each time you need to remove it. The previous version on the D3/4/RRS was great for that and it had a small integrated lock on it.....
