United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White
BUILD TOLERANCE

After replacing my park assist module that was eventually sorted after 14 days in total in and out of dealership, I received my autobiography dynamic back.
To which I was out shopping with my good lady, and upon opening the rear hatch noticed a gap on the bottom right hand side corner below the hatch seal which is about 10 to 12mm,the passenger side also has a gap, I reported this to the dealers who stated that the workshop could not fix the problem, after conversation with the dealer principle I told him I was not happy with paying this kind of money and every time I opened the hatch I was looking at a gap, we looked at a model in his showroom that had gaps as well not as much as my car though. He passed the issue onto L/R customer services who stated the this was within build tolerance to which I’m really annoyed at especially with a car mark like Land Rover, I’m still in correspondence with the dealer principle and land rover customer care(although they are not being very helpful at all)
I would appreciate our members thoughts on my comments, please see attached photos.

I must admit that looks pretty shabby and just raises the concern about what is also 'shabby' construction but just not visible.

It is not what we expect considering the car's cost but I guess, if its the way they decided to make 'em - its a question of like it or lump it.

I have a similar problem with the waist rails at the bottom of the driver and passenger door windows in my Evoque which are out of alignment. It's been back to the dealer twice. They do not have a clue and at some point I will muster the energy to go back for a third time. LR need to take a close look at the fit and finish of their competitors.

Most of all, I wish LR would stop patting themselves on the back. Their supply of the UK market is a shambles, the dealers are hopeless, the build quality is iffy. Bored now... Mark

dfy, Shocked That is NOT acceptable, if Pete can't sort it out, hand it back and shop elsewhere. If this is the standards L/R have lowered themselves to, then they are going to lose a lot of custom. Whistle

LR may for sure say it is within tolerance ....

I as a customer would say it is intolerable ..

Test driven both the RRS2 and MY14 BMW X5 and got to say one of the things putting me off the rrs is the build quality. MY 09TDV8

Is the bottom part actually part of the rear bumper?

Do you have a photo from stood back further?

Unbelievable that LR think this is within manufacturing tolerances.
If this is the case, they need to look at the German competition and take a leaf out of their book. MY13.5 Autobiography, Santorini Black, Privacy Glass. Gone

To me, it looks as though the seal has come off the body seam. Can you not just push it back on? Confused

I've owned a lot of German vehicles (mostly Mercedes) and can say with some conviction that they aren't as well-built as many make them out to be.

Good marketing helps...

I have the same issue with my three week old RRS 2. There's a visible 2 to 3 mm height difference between the rear end of the black waist trim on the driver's door and the front of the trim on the off-side rear passenger door.

I simply haven't had the time to take it back to the dealers yet to get it sorted (or not) but I can't believe that this is the build quality of a £65k car.

The other issue that I'll need addressing is the tyre roar from the 22 inch wheels. It's awful. Again, you just don't expect this from a car at this level.

The worst part for me is that I didn't want the 22's as I'd read about the noise from them and was going to change to the 21's or even the stock 20's - but the dealership had pushed the button on my order without coming back to me first!

Sorry to take this off-topic but with regards to my road noise issue - does anyone think that I will be able to get LR to change them to either the 21's or 20's without messing up the rest of the calibrations (speedometer, etc....?) And do you think that I'll have more sway given the fact that I didn't get the chance to change my choice? Thanks. MY14 RRS2, Corris, Pano, 50/50 Cirrus/Black leather, Meridien sound, 22" Style 6's, Bespoke Gap around tailgate.

Gal,
Speedo won't change...the diameter of the tyres are all the same regardless of the wheel size.

Will be checking for any alignment issues when my RRS turns up whenever that may be! SDV8 arrived and fantastic even the infotainment!
