United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
Smaller Wheels and Tyres

As a new member would just like to say thanks for an enjoyable and interesting forum, amazed at the knowledge out there.

Would appreciate any advice on an old problem of changing down to smaller rims and bigger tyres, as tired of getting the standard rims repaired and replacing damaged tryres, (Hankook 275 40 20 106w, which I assume are the original ones on my 2006 Sport) caused usually from towing a horse trailer up here in Cumbria.

I am looking at the link below for a set of Style 12 alloys with 255 55 R20 110Y taken off a new Sport but the seller can't confirm the PCD which I think needs to be 120, so don't know if they would fit my vehicle.

Also the spare on my vehicle which I currently have on (while I decide what to do) is a 255 50 R19 and looks quite solid with more of a side wall, so is that bigger/smaller than the ones on ebay?

Would like something a bit chunkier (Grabber) but work takes me down the A1 and some motorway work.

Any help/advice or suggestions gratefully received.

many thanks

255/55 20 is big tyre. It's 61mm larger diameter than the 275/40 20. I have 255/55 19 on my RRS which is still 26mm smaller in diameter than the ebay tyres. It's possible you could get some rubbing of the tyre on lock.

(I have Grabber AT on mine and they're fine on motorways. A bit noisier but not too bad.) 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I have used 19" Wrangler tyres on the last RRS and currently running 19" Conti winter on the current RRS and much better than the 20" Conti and Scorpions I fit during summer Thumbs Up

I have to decide next month if I refit the 20" or look for another set of 19" for Summer Confused

If you deviate from sizes in handbook make sure you clear it with insurer or you may not be covered Exclamation Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
