Whooshing Noise when excellerating.

Hi all, can anyone help please.

I have noticed over the past week or so, that when sitting in the car with no radio on, that when I rev the car I can hear a whooshing sound coming from the drivers side dash area, obviously it's coming from the engine but what can the noise be. Should I be worried!!!

Any ideas would be really helpfully

Thanks
Bow down

Hi Sandra

Cheapest option is Just keep the radio on Thumbs Up Whistle

Seriously though when you say whooshing ! does it only make the sound when cold
is it coming through the air vents or lower down from the footwell in the pedal area ?
is it an air type whooshing or ?
your fan maybe Rolling Eyes

It sounds like it's coming from the top right hand corner of the dash. We had the blowers switched off also so we could hear properly. I think it's like an air type whooshing but hard to tell, it's not the fan because it was all switched off. But it like it whether the car is cold or running a while.

No smoke at all.

best bet is open the bonnet and get someone to rev the engine the inter cooler pipe is at the front drivers side top of the radiator you may be able to pin point the whooshing sound better

Keep you fingers out of the engine bay though Thumbs Up

You don't say which engine is in your car, is it down on performance ? If its a v6 then it could be a split balance pipe which runs behind the engine .. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

In that case it could be warped manifolds. Something that is a known problem on the V8 engine.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current
