Quieter 5.0 SC

Odd question i suppose

14.5 MY 5.0 SC , anyone any idea how to quieten down the sound ( exhaust ) ?

On my Aston it has vac pipes but taking those off makes it loud all of the time , however no idea on the 5.0SC how the exhaust works presume similar but when you use some slightly NOT heavy right foot yes it's a smile factor sometimes but also at other times it can attract unwanted attention with just a fraction too much on the loud peddle. Wish it had a switch-able unit a bit like my Porsche 911 had.

Any suggestions that will not effect warranty of course ? 2014 5.0SC AB

It's one of the designed in characteristics of the RRS SC, all part of imparting the sporting character. In much the same way, Porsche have an acoustic feed ("sound symposer") from the inlet manifold into the car, BMW go even further by playing sounds through the sound system.

It's down to the design of the exhaust alone unlike in a turbo where the sound is naturally muted because the turbo makes use of the residual energy in the exhaust gases. I expect the SC exhaust is specific to that model. Might be worth checking if the Swiss exhaust is the same as they have more severe drive by noise regulations.

I expect the FFRR has a quieter nature than the RRS, though it is of course slower.

When you say attract attention, do you mean from people inside or outside the car? Mark

As above they designed it to sound like that, it makes people feel the whole range of engine is somehow more sporty Wink Mike
