Cape York Trip

For the few aussie members that may be left i was thinking of heading up to Cape York this year, around July ish.
Any recommendations for what to do in terms of going "up norrfff" past Cairns in terms of off roading/camping and
places to stop

Cheers

From exec express to bush basher huh? I suppose the Jeep has replaced the RRS! These days I go to work on the number 82 TransPerth bus or courtesy of Qantas / SQ A380. The X6 has been quiet for the last month. Pics please when it's done!

BK the Jeeps spends most of its life do local runs .. i spent a lot of time getting a bus and manly ferry to work..

The Sport will be retained for many years once the work is done and will not look too different to a standard
school run machine.. even the sliders have extenders to make it look like steps.. Normal tyres will be applied

Modifications have finished

Well after a lot of research with the 4WD specialist companies transformation is complete for its Cape York trip..
here are some pictures for the purists, namely BK Laughing who will be happy to know the Sport has stayed
untouched and we bought an old Bush Basher for the Trip, it will reside at Airlie beach for an easy life once
the Cape York trip is completed and assumed it makes it back. Subject to inspection not finding anything drastic
(apart from the Nissan badge Laughing ) its ready made for our adventure to the top of OZ and should be ours by
Friday.. 3 4WD's in the family now Shocked

Zilchy, I AM relieved that you haven't butchered the RRS. The Nissan is a disposable item, I hope it wasn't too expensive. 3 4x4 s, huh? You are becoming quite a car baron, perhaps you should start a rental company!

In the meantime, I won't be having any hols this year, I have 2 large new S-92 helicopters about to start supporting the crew change for pipe lay vessels laying an 890km subsea pipeline, a drilling rig starting soon with 3 more helicopters and travel to arrange for 1400 people offshore.

The X6 is still not being used much but is a hoot when I do use it. I have 2 speeding tickets in 2 weeks ( the last one towing my boat FFS) and I have now bought a radar detector which are legal here in WA.

Why are you not taking the RRS and taking that white heap of #$%^ instead.

A RRS will have no issues doing the Cape - by not taking it you are just reinforcing the Jappers view of Landies.

Gents it is not about the capability, it's about the potential for damage, researching other cape trips it seems to come away
Unscathed is not a common occurrence, so it's about protecting the invesstment (if a lsport can be deemed as such) Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
