Sweden 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black
Front brake discs damaged on the inside?

I had my RRS SDV6 Aut Dyn -14 at the dealer to do four service actions.

When collecting my car the mechanic told me I needed to change both front disc brakes, he had found marks on the inside of the discs as if a stone was stuck on the brake pads.

I have really no idea what he means by on the inside and I find it strange being on both discs.

The mechanic said I had to change the discs within 6-12 months or something because of this?!??

The car has gone 2200 km only!

Of course I will try to get it on the warranty, but what can have caused this?

And... Have anyone seen prices for the front discs?

When you look through the wheel spokes you see the outside face of the disc, so the inside face is not visible unless you crawl underneath.. Do another 2000 kms and the score will more than likely have disappeared.. 5.0 Ltr Superchrged RRS2, Chile Red, Sideways out of junctions!
TDV8 HST Stornaway on a 08.. remapped.. now gone and replaced, was a mighty fine car..
4.2 SC First Edition when they first came out, quick car!

Sounds very odd to me and I agree, limited scoring of the disc is unlikely to be a problem. If you are minded to, crawl under the car with a torch or try to get a look at the back of a brake disc with a mirror.

It's a favourite trick of car dealers to recommend unnecessary replacement of discs and pads, easy money for them, but after 2200km? Mark

Well... Land Rover informed me today they will replace the front brake discs on warranty.

Really strange issue!

Oh, the front discs are 218 GBP each.
