Northern Ireland 2005 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Java Black
Engines

Hi. I have an 05 4.4 petrol wonder has anyone any ideas about this I have been told that it could be a BMW engine or a jag as they made the chane about 06 others say all sports have jag engines. Reason I am asking is I am LPG ing it and BMW engines are ok but the jag engines have softer valve seats and I need to use a flash lube kit I have looked round the engine and cannot find any way of telling

You need to get the guys doing the conversion to do the homework. I believe the 4.4 was a BMW engine, the 4 litre was jag. My 02 full fat was BMW and I believe this changed late 05-06.
Being a native of Co Down it would amuse me to know who does LPG now as it used to be two guys, one in Newcastle and the other in ballymena. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

I thought all D3/RRS all had Ford derived engines - the diesels Ford family, the 4.0 V6 from the American Ford Explorer and the Petrol V8s from Jaguar.

The BMW engines persisted in the FF RR until 06/07 but I thought the new D3s/RRSs when introduced were all Ford.

Happy to be corrected though.

I am not the oricle but the Diesel engines are different to petrol. The V6 was Jaguar but the TDV8 was LR designed and supplied.
BMW started supplying engines in the TD5 and 6 era and continued to supply petrol engines until Tata purchased the company in 2005. More than that I know not but happy to be educated by someone who does Bow down 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

The TDV8 is a Ford engine - part of the Lion family.

The 4.2 was a Jag engine and I think the 4.4 is BMW. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

All V6 & V8 diesels are the Lion engine developed by Ford/Jag & Peugeot, All RRS/D3 V8 petrols were Jaguar from the start. The FFRR continued with the 3.0l BMW diesel until the launch of the 3.6l TDV8, the FFRR got the Jaguar V8's at 2005/6 facelift
